Did you see the pictures of SMU fans in the stands at Rice? How about the Houston fans at our game? Or the UTEP fans at Ford last year?
Anyone remember the woefully attended Hawaii game televised from Ford? How many made the road trip to Boise? As far as SMU goes, CUSA is a no brainer. As far as caliber of competition, SJSU, Hawaii, Boise St and Nevada vs. Tulsa, Southern Miss, Houston and Rice. I think Boise beats all three CUSA teams, Hawaii wins three out of four and SJSU wins one out of four. I think Rice wins one out of four. Bottom line, though, is $$$. Boise State and by extension the WAC are getting BCS $$$, CUSA isn't.
As a long term home, CUSA is a better place to be. However, the parity in the league keeps us out of the spotlight because we have no standout team.
But this same parity keeps the conference competitive and gives us a shot at the title. I love this conference, it pairs us against many of our old SWC rivalries and places we can actually travel to. C-USA is rising amongst the ranks of the non-BCS as well, in my opinion.
WAC...i miss those days in the Cotton Bowl and a once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii and that Blue Turf in Boise.
"Richard Johnson's right about Amos Johnson being right." C-USA is where we need to be. Close games, old rivalries, and teams that our fans have heard of. This is the conference that SMU needs to be in to bring our program back. Then maybe we kick out baylor or some other scrub b12 team and get back where we belong.

Besides that trip to Hawaii is happening next year as the Ponies will get a bid to the Hawaii bowl (cusa tie in)
I give the Top of the WAC all the credit in the world...but it is a horrible conference for us.
the travel is horrible, and it will be TCU's undoing (MWC = WAC)... Last year I thought the east of CUSA was clearly better than the west...but that has totally changed... I would say that the W is clearly better than the E by a long shot now..and I think that will continue because of TX and OK football, unless UCF can make up the ground they lost. That is partly the reason we didn't improve as much as perhaps we could have in the same conference (that is, the W was overall better this year than last).
cusa no brainer

I don't even know why there's a debate about this. Yeah, sure.. Boise got a BCS game. That's good for them. How will they do in that game? If they win, it'll validate that program nationally. But if they get blown out (and they might) it'll look like all those conference wins were meaningless and will hurt every other non-BCS school who has a good record like that in the future.
I'm glad we're in the CUSA. I'm sorry TCU left. I wouldn't be surprised to see them come back in a few years.
ha, that'll be the day. They feel like they're better than us and didnt want to have anything to do with us being in the same conference as them
I'm happy to be in CUSA because it gives us a SW centered Division and if heaven forbid there are shakeups in CUSA. You have essentially 8 teams (6 western division) plus Memphis and USM which still fit together nicely. Travel is relatively easy. Only Marshall is hard to get to (and I know because I went to the game last year).
