At least we do not have this problem ( Not SMU)

Or maybe we would like to have this problem.

The parents of 3 freshman players at Arkansas have had a sit down meeting with Lord Broyles and asked if Malhzon was going to be allowed to run his offense or if Nutt was going to continue to control the offense. The 3 players, including Mitch Mustain, were all from Springdale High School where Malhzon coached last year. Two of the players had committed to Florida and changed after Malhzon was hired in order that they could be a part of the new offensive scheme for Arkansas. However, the success of McFadden led the Razorbacks to rely on the run and not convert to the no huddle offense that Malhzon "invented" several years ago. The 2 receivers although seeing a lot of field time did not get involved in the highly charged pass offense that Malhzon was told he would instate when he came to Arkansas.

I think this is great to watch the parents try to take over the team. Mustain's mother has been calling Nutt and telling him to play her son. Now the parents have wised up and gone straight to Broyles, who calls the shots as those up here know. It will be interesting to see what happens. I expect to see at least 2 if not all 3 of the kids transfer pretty soon unless Broyles decides that they are right in which case he will have to cut Nutt loose because Nutt, although under Broyles' thumb, will not be able to run a team that has been taken over by parents.

Not SMU related but it does fall under the category of "gee I wish we had such problems as dealing with keeping 4 and 5 star recruits happy".

I dunno, who as a coach would want to go to a place where the AD just fired the previous coach because the player's parents whined that there kids weren't seeing the field enough? I certainly wouldn't.

It's not the geography (or even the thought of hillbilly man on man loving), Kiki just doesn't like being told how to do things. She's the dominant type.

You are probably on track, though. Nutt would probably cave in if Broyles said to because he is in line to become AD when Broyles passes away and I am sure he would not want to give up the possibility of that gig. Although it is rumored that Broyles died about 8 years ago and was laminated and set up in his office with a recorder that plays "My way or the Highway".

Broyles 'told' Nutt to replace the starting QB at Arky U after the first game (USC) and play Mustain. So Arky U placed a freshman in a position to fail and he failed in the most miserable fashion. One must remember that here in Arkyland, Mustain was anointed as having a better arm than Farve, more cool than Montana, more mobility than Staubach, and more explosiveness than an Arkansas Bean Eating festival. "The future is Mustain" was the quote before the season. Now (after Nutt not only benched the starting black QB) Nutt has an explosive Soph that is black and productive and doesn't need a Mustain ego to win on his hands. How Nutt handles the success of McFadden and the ego of Mustain and the potential racial issues will be interesting.

We may not have this problem at SMU, but someone at SMU has been through similar turmoil. Maybe Doh should give Nutt a call.

As for those parents...McFadden was a friggin finalist for the Heisman! Tell them to get their kids to work hard, and when they are Heisman finalists, come back and talk to me.
