Status reportAnybody got a status report on the NCAA's investigation into the burgers and Cheer violations this program has been accused of perpetrating? Still looking for that NCAA report to come down.
The only thing left to "know" is if we will receive any penalties from the NCAA. As far as what happened, that has already been stated....improper purchase of meals and buying items for personal use and we turned ourselves in for it.
It is the right of the AD to fire a coach for whatever reasons he sees fit, he doesn't have to have permission from you and these were deemed firable offenses by the administration...... Not really sure what you are trying to figure out from a NCAA report. Womack + Wishbone = Heisman

If I remember correctly from a couple Board meetings ago, the NCAA has completed its investigation and found several secondary violations. As far as I know, no additional sanctions have been assessed, in part because we self-reported.
I like Jimmy, but on the checklist of things a coach should do, he really wasn't doing any of them. Win -- No Recruit top notch local players as expected -- No Keep players out of academic problems -- No Be the face of the program to raise money/publicity -- No Run a violation free program -- No IMO, if a coach only does 2 of these, he's probabably safe, maybe even just one of them. But with the other 4 lacking, these violations -- though minor -- appeared to be the last straw that broke the camel's back.
Not true. Copeland said, right after Tubbs was fired, that he could not elaborate on the violations found pending the NCAA investigation but that they were much more than what was reported in the paper, or words to that effect. So that's what I want to find out from the NCAA report, the truth of what the violations were and whether the SMU athletic department lied about them top SMU fans and the general public.
And if they'd come out and said he was being fired for all of these shortcomings, i.e, tell the truth, I'd be past this now. Because you and I know hewas fired for his record after two years. But they were gutless and said he was fired for violations, and ones even more serious than reported in the papers. I want the truth.
Does anyone else really care?

I know where you are coming from JT, you and some others feel that Tubbs was set up to be fired because Orsini wanted him out before he got to SMU so he could bring in Doherty. If this was the case, I too wish Copeland/Orsini would have just come out and said "we want to take another direction and we are letting Tubbs go", however, I really do feel like there was something else and we will learn what it is, most probably the "golf tournament as a front for slushfund" thingy.
The bottom line, however, was he did violate two rules that we know about and that is two too many especially with a new AD coming in and a sorry W-L record from the year before and the fact that he had landed no recruits..... Womack + Wishbone = Heisman

But in respect to what jt has been saying from day one, why is it that everyone of us can come up with a reason for the firing, some good, some not so good, but no one from the administration will say anything concrete. That is all he is asking.
you're right, he really didn't do any of those things, did he?? The hiring of Doherty really placated the Tubbs backers too (for the most part). I couldn't be any happier with our current direction under Coach Doh. Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!

they obviously were, and I've heard stuff, a lot of us has heard stuff...but at this point, we all have to realize that nothings going to come out publically Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
