Cellar dwellars SMU and Rice got into C-USA with abyssmal attendance and bad records. UNT was winning the Sun Belt.

UNT is still in the Sun Belt... Just face it, academically and athletically your university just has no respect in the state of Texas or nationally. That's just the way it is... and will continue to be until you get out of the Sun Belt and raise admission standards.

24-6, congrats. I am looking forward to next year at Ford when we use your team as batting practice. We're 7-1 in our last 8 games at home with the lone loss coming against the conference champions in a 2nd half meltdown.

Oh and nice 10-29 loss against Arkansas State. We only managed to beat them by 46.

We both might be sitting at home these next few weeks -- but at least we batted .500 this year and were bowl eligible. Hell, you guys couldn't even beat powerhouse FAU.

This is what losers do when they can't get it done on the playing field. They point to mutual opponents or losses suffered by the other side and pretend it validates them. Is UT better than OU? You'd have to argue that they're not since OU ended up as Big XII champions and UT didn't. Oh wait though, UT stomped them head to head...I guess we can throw out on the field proof huh? I guess Nebraska should tell UT that they're superior too. I mean, it's true that they lost to Texas ON THE FIELD but they did beat Kansas State 21-3 and UT couldn't do that.

Bottom line is this. Your team had 60 minutes to prove how much superior they were. They didn't. They lost. And it wasn't close.

I find it amazingly pathetic that you come here and attempt to trash talk. Upsets happen. It does not mean you are the better team. A team's overall talent level cannot and should not be determined off of one given Saturday. Get over yourself.

I think what validates us is a 6-6 record. You guys were what? 3-9? Overall we were a better team than you this season, just not on that particular day.

If that is true then tell me this: why do certain NTSU posters continue to come on here and perpetuate the myth that SMU has somehow held them back by blackballing them from certain conference affiliations?

Interesting that an earlier SMU post in this or another string was bragging about how SMU single handed stopped NT from membership in the Southwest Conference and CUSA.

Question: How many winning seasons has SMU had in the last 10 years...does anyone have this info year by year?

Way to support the program.

Who cares if UNT hired Dodge??? and who cares if Riley might go to UNT...I'm sure he wont because he'll have better offers from better D-I schools.

SMU doesnt need a coach coming out of the HS ranks. Sure you can point to the coach at RICE but you need to look at everything he did. Brought in the MAJOR, changed the WHOLE ENTIRE O, and had a weapon named Dillard. Any coach could have changed that RICE team to fit the athleticism of Jarrett Dillard.

What SMU needs to focus on is getting ready to go bowling. I know the season is over and there is not much to talk about ont he board but who cares about Todd Dodge going to UNT and whos going to a bowl game first??? NOT ME...

That was my point on the other line. It used to be SMU v. TCU like it's Intel vs. AMD, or CVS v. Walgreens, or Continental v. AMR, or whatever. Now, TCU has distinguished itself, and SMU now stands to lose market share to NTSU, as its product has been of a lesser quality and NTSU has had a change in 'management,' if you will.

If these were stocks we were looking at, NTSU would've been up $2.00 a share when they hired Dodge, and SMU would've been down .85 or so.

Time to buy back some shares.

Stallion wrote:Big 10 let me suggest that instead of [deleted] me off in your state of perpetual denial you instead try to learn something about college football. In fact, NTSU has had a lower(as in better) Sagarin Rating in 4 of the last 6 years:

2001
NTSU 103
SMU 105

2002
NTSU 63
SMU 149

2003
NTSU 73
SMU 174

2004
NTSU 102
SMU 126

2005
NTSU 161
SMU 88

2006
NTSU 152
SMU 88

Now considering that one of the GREAT post DP teams-the GREAT 2006 SMU Mustangs couldn't beat NTSU in Denton when it was rated 64 places higher than NTSU then I think its fair to say that it is very probable that NTSU would have beatedn SMU 3-4+ times if they were playing a home and home schedules. In two years NTSU was rated 101 teams higher and 86 teams higher respectively than poor old Phil Bennett's SMU Mustangs-logically years when NTSU would have beaten us.

PS which one is more embarrassing the fact that the NTSU program has been better than SMU over the last 6 years or that the BEST that SMU could do in a 6 year period is No. 88? Put that in your importance of recruiting file.

Ok, that makes no sense because you're saying that north texas upset us this year when we were the better team; so when they were the better team in previous years they would cream us without question...BUT, if they UPSET us this year, there's no saying we wouldn't "upset" them (SMU upsetting NTSU??????) in any previous years. Stop being so ridiculous.

Has it really sunk to this level? Actually debating with some NTSU "alum" about who has a better fball program? Sad..sad , sad state of affairs, my friends.

You lost me right there. I will concede that UNT was better than SMU from 2002-2004. However, the 2001 UNT team that went bowling had a losing record and according to the ratings you posted was merely 2 spots better than SMU. Looking at the 2005 and 2006 seasons, SMU is currently the superior program. If you think that the game from this past season is evidence that UNT is better than SMU than you should go ahead and argue that SMU is a better program than TCU right now based on our win in 2005 -- and that would be asinine.

So whomever loses the National Title game can claim that it was an "any given Saturday" fluke?

Or how about your win over TCU last season that you all touted so heavily last season? Fluke?

I've got an idea. Perhaps you can claim your bowl drought of 22 years is a fluke as well. Hmmm, perhaps that might even work come recruiting season.

Screw NTSU. I hope Dodge can recruit musicians or teachers.

Did I say NTSU got lucky? You seem to have this poor-little-me attitude. Quit yapping with that chip on your shoulder like you have something to prove your worthiness of taking up space.

I merely said that you cannot judge a team off of one day. To believe that you can do that is nothing short of moronic.

Get a grip. I would love for you to compete in C-USA, that would shut your trash talking up really quick.
