Women vs Duke

Postby MustangStealth » Wed Dec 20, 2006 5:32 pm

Down 35-17 at the half.

The ladies are hustling and really fighting for rebounds. We can't hit our shots though. Sounds like Duke is in everyone face as soon as they get the ball.

Now 53-34.

We're doing better this half, but we haven't been able to make a run of any significance.

Could this be a monstrous (I hope) typo?

Found this in the press release from SMU's win over Detroit-Mercy:

"SMU will take on fourth-ranked Duke (10-0) Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. as the Blue Devils defeated Bowling Green, 55-4 at 3:30 p.m. as the Blue Devils defeated Bowling Green, 55-46, Tuesday."

55-4??????????????

It's a typo. 55-46 was correct.

68-39 now late in the game. Sounds like we've run out of steam.

Still showed some bright spots, especially strong offensive rebounds. Also keep in mind we have 4 freshmen playing a bunch of minutes.

Final 75-45

Here are some games other Duke games to compare against:

11/19 Houston W 81-35
12/04 at #21 Rutgers W 85-45
12/07 #11 Vandy W 69-48
12/10 #22 Texas W 80-52

We kept it almost as close as Texas did. Also we were just the 5th team to keep them under 80 pts. Our shooting was terrible all game and really kept us out of it.

That one was tough to listen to. I hate losing to the Evil Empire of the ACC (sorry, DiamondM).

I guess I don't hate their women's team as much as their men's team, but Duke is still Duke, and therefore is evil.

Way to fight tough, Ponies. See you at Moody on the 30th!

I wasn't differentiating between women's or men's basketball.

If their uniforms say DUKE - then they are the Evil Empire.

If Duke played the New York Yankees, I wish they would both lose, somehow.

You and me both!
Any way we can get Duke and the MFYankees and the Cowboys and Celtics in a round-robin tournament, and have them ALL lose?
While we're at it, through Cougar High and Froggy High in there, too.

There's a lot of Duke-SMU fan overlap, so y'all be nice. Fellow Methodist-founded institutions, after all.

And yes, even SMU's Carolina-family coach speaks positively about Duke (these days anyway).

You're right. I forgot the true pit of evil that is Notre Dame. So, I'll revise my list from above - Notre Dame and the Yankees can co-exist at the bottom of the barrel. Duke can be one rung up.

Shame on all of you for your updates and postings. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette shows the final score as Duke 74/SMU 75. I could be celebrating this morning if not having read this thread yesterday.
