Again I post reality not wet dreams. I post positive info on every BB and FB recruit SMU gets. Just need more ammunition (ie quality recruits) to be a cheerleader.

On his post game interview, Doh said with possibly the exception of Killen this team showed absolutely no toughness tonight. OU had its way with us. When asked if foul trouble played a part, he said that certain players commit silly fouls becasue they do not want to play and would rather be on the bench in foul trouble. He was obviously not only frustrated with the effort tonight but outright angry. He said that he did not care about the Brown game, he just wants to find out who is tough enough to play his kind of ball regardless of the outcome. When asked what the team would do to prepare for Brown and the games next week, he said that they would just run and run some more until he finds out who wants to play and who doesn't. Sounds like boot camp to me.

Next year, next year, next year........the SMU faithful have been hearing this for almost 20 years now........... :x

Yea but for once we have a top 25 class. Don't listen to Stallion. He has been right about football but knows nothing about basketball. For that I turn to Pony_fan.

94 -- I've been following this for a while but I will be the 1st to admit I don't follow recruiting closely at all - don't have any recruiting subscriptions nor do I want to...doesn't excite me too much.

We'll see if that works...haha. They need to sit in the gym and shoot balls all day and figure out how to score.....rather than run...

Can any of them make a layup or hit a jump shot?

I do not see shooting as big a concern as turnovers, getting out rebounded, getting beat in the paint for easy shots and generally not hustling. He wants players who lay it on the line every play win or lose. The shots will come. This team with the exception of our one freshman is an inherited team that played a very undisciplined style of basketball last year at least to my untrained eye. I believe Doh wants them to overcome, to the extent they can, whatever talent they lack by smart, disciplined, hard nosed, high energy play. You will have bad nights shooting but this can be overcome by a smothering defense, rebounds and few turnovers.

anyone who thought we could win this game does not understand basketball. Doh is recruiting lights out but it will take a year to get those guys in and running. We have only two shooters (maybe only one) and no ball handlers on this team - it will take better guard play to compete vs the middle of the big 12 and up - but not a surprise. We will win 17-18 this year whcih is better then we deserve.

Absolutely right, Stallion. PonySnob doesn't let actual information get in the way of slamming anything related to SMU.

Just for hype? And your statements are said just for what .... pot-stirring? Coach Doherty made his comments based on the talent he saw in his guys, and he's angry because they played poorly. Watch enough games - in any sport - and you'll see that even great players have bad nights, too. I don't know what happened tonight, and neither does anyone else on this board. Were we the less talented team? Yup. Did people take OU lightly? Yup. Did the players get intimidated by the Sooners? Who knows. Were the players healthy? Mostly, I assume. Did we shoot poorly? Without question. Was there a lack of hustle? Definitely. Did they have too much confidence after beating up the Paul Quinns of the world? Maybe. Feeling fat from holiday meals? Sure - maybe that was part of it, too. All I'm saying is that while we are not exactly a Final Four team, expectations are higher, because we've played with some good teams and clobbered some bad ones. The Sooners are OK, but they're not UCLA or Florida or Ohio State. We looked awful tonight. That doesn't mean that Ike and Rack, or any of the Ponies, are suddenly without the ability Coach Doherty saw when he made those statements.

I'm not glad we lost, but this kind of loss shows that the program has a long ways to go. Whether or not Coach Doh's first class was top 25 or not, it was a pretty darn good class for a mid-major conference. If we are to beat the OU's of college basketball, we'll need a lot more recruiting classes like this one, if not better. I DO expect us to compete for CUSA championships getting 4 3-stars a year. This might be one of the least talented SMU teams in years, but no matter how talented they are or aren't, they HAVE TO put better effort out there. Coach Doh seems to believe some players wanted the bench instead of the floor, if that's the case, I want those players on the bench too. Anyone else wondering why Killen is starting over Dez? He really is the toughest player on the team.

I'm rambling, but don't expect anything else at 2:20 AM

I'm pretty satisfied with Doherty's class so far-no I don't think its a Top 25 Class but Top 40 to 50 or so-what's wrong with that? The one position that I'm not satisfied is PG but I believe he's still got 2 scholarships left so let's see.
