And the sidelines continue to be a question mark.

At least I'm punctual when I attend games.

Yeah. I'd hate to be a footnote.

Hey, now! Don't pick on one of our best fans! :x

Funny - was sitting with husband of "obnoxious ex band member chick" Saturday night on the opposite baseline from the band. I did have to poke him and say, "that's your wife!" He said, "Yep. She's as loud over here; you just can't make out what she's saying."

Love ya, DiamondM!

Thanks 88. But I guess I'm not who WTF or whatever-his-name-is is talking about since when I yell it is never, and I mean NEVER, "for no apparent reason." I am not just some mindless bimbo enjoying hearing herself "scream." I yell encouragement when good plays are made, yell at the refs when they suck, yell when we need a big defensive stand, yell to disrupt a free throw, etc. That is how real fans act at a basketball game. They don't sit on their arse and golf clap when the team amuses them occasionally. And I say this out of experience growing up and watching basketball games at KU, Wichita State, and of course spending my post graduate time (and money) on the floor of Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Peruna88...I know of at least 6 folks who have not renewed bball tickets, and one of the reasons why, not the only reason, but one is the "loud ex band chick"....who I am sure is simply wonderful, a great fan, has ALL the right bball credentials, etc., etc..just speaking from experience, and from what others have told me....Long Live

Well for sure these "fans" have not been missed. I wonder if one of these was the idiot women who tried to get everyone to sit down at the Tulane football game last fall.

..these are life long fans. Bball games were not fun anymore..be it the team, the crowd, the overall "game experience", then throw in the "noise"...not much to get excited about. I like to yell, raise hell, but some people...makes you wonder.

Good god...can ya'll believe that we're actually having this kind of a discussion? I bet fans of other schools who occassionally visit this site are laughing their asses off at this ridiculousness. Can you imagine this kind of a discussion taking place at Duke, North Carolina, Louisville, etc.? Of course not. It would never happen. And it shouldn't be happening at SMU, either. But it does and it's stupid.

I think we're talking about two different things here.

If you're referring to the band member(s) who just screamed at the top of her lungs during that one song, well yeah I absolutely hated it as well. I know for a fact everybody I sat around in both sections I have sat in for the last several years thought it was ridiculous as well. And if that makes me unspirited...well, i'll put my "spirit credentials" up against most and feel pretty comfortable about it. Especially in bball.

If you're referring to Diamond M, I think that is an entirely different situation and people who get into the game and make some noise should be commended.

Again, I think y'all might be talking about two different things but maybe not.

That's silly. Moody is never more than 30% full. Plenty of empty seats not directly in front of the audio fury. Sit in the right place and her constant roar will vibrate your chair nicely and relax your overly tight out-hole.

I guess I could understand better if we were at one of those places or at least watching a team of that caliber that wasn't wearing visitor's colors....

But see, this is the kind of attitude that drives me nuts. Fans are not the Queen of England, waiting for the team to do something that pleases them and then applaud their good performance. "Clap clap, you have performed admirably and therefor I will reward you with this smattering of applause."

This is precisely the kind of thing Steve O. is trying to change. You don't wait until you actually are Top 25 to act like it. You act like it then the rest will follow. And I firmly believe that fans can have immediate, definite, proactive impact on a game, a team, and a season. I've seen it happen.
