How have they looked in 2-a-days? We've all read the statements from Coach Bennett about how great they look, but he has to be optimistic at this point - the passing game struggled last year, and we have some unproven commodities this year (a talented-but-young QB in Bartel, Comet coming back off the foot injury, Rushbrook moving over from defense, the uncertain status of Jay Taylor's health, etc.)
I'm curious to know if anyone's seen the team practice or scrimmage, and what someone who's not associated with the team has thought of the WRs. Thanks

Re: Receivers
One guy that never gets mentioned that I like is Perkins. 6-3 198. What's his story?
Re: Receivers
The receivers look good, significantly better than last year. Rushbrook has had a great camp, he has looked the best. Cunningham as expected has looked very good as well, does not seem to be hampered by his foot. If Bartel can deliver, these guys should open up the running game alot.
Re: Receivers
All I've ever heard about Perkins is that he has the size to be great, but not the skills to go with the size.
Perhaps someone closer to the team can offer a more detailed scouting report?

Bartel will deliver but there needs to be a lot less dropped balls than last year.

Re: Receivers
I can tell you that Ray works his BUTT off, day in and day out, but the truth be told, he just isnt 1st or 2nd team material. He was one of my best friend's roommates while I was at SMU and I hung out with him quite a bit. I think he's happy just knowing he's contributing. There's no pressure on him
As for speed, I don't think he's that fast.

Re: Receivers
Is he fast enough to contribute on special teams? With that size, if he has any athleticism, he could be great on special teams, even if he's not quite a top-of-the-rotation WR.
Re: Receivers
I'll stick with my idea that if he can stay healthy, Jay Taylor will have a huge year, even becoming Bartel's go-to guy. He's too big and fast to not succeed.
Re: Receivers
Sounds like Jay Taylor's foot injury is a little worse than we originally thought.
Any updates on his rehab?
