LSU hired him too work with strength and conditioning of the football team... and aparently you never saw vic in the weight room

I was there Pre-Faucette and while Faucette was the coach . . . Chuck was much better than what we had prior to his arrival, and I hope Vic continues that trend as well! (stepping up continually in Strength and Conditioning) That being said, Chuck was a friend to some players, as alot of coaches are, but he still was intense, pushed those who cared enoughed to be pushed (and needed it) and cared about us. Courtney was there my last year, but he just seemed to quite, never heard much from him myself so it hard for me to have an opinion on him.

Anyway, I love Vic's intensity and aggresive style, Hopefully he can bring that to the weight room and help it carry over to the field!!!

im not saying i didnt like him, because i did.. i just don't feel that he did a good job pushing everyone. i was suprised when i was a freshmen how he didnt even care if the juniors/seniors were doing there workouts, most of the time he was siting there shooting the [deleted] with them in his office...

That's bull$hit. Chuch was, is, and will be a good coach. He is looking for another job right now and hopefully will find a place that is right for him. I find it hard to believe that anyone who played while he was there would have anything negative to say about him. And having played with and workout along side Vic, I have no doubts that he will be a great addition to the staff. He was promoted at LSU this llast year because of his efforts there and Im sure his age will prove to be a non-factor. Go Chuck. Go Vic. Go Stangs.

I think Chuck is a good guy but I would have to agree that he was more of a friend than a coach. Courtney Ray always took a couple of the guys under his wing and it paid off for all of them. I think everyone knew this was going to happen for a year now. I think SMU would benefit from a more structured, hard nosed approach.

So I assume by that statement you must be ready to get rid of your boy PB. Or has he gotten the job done???

Clearly you are not familiar with the program that Viloria came from! LSU has one of the nations top strength and conditioning programs in the country. As a matter of fact, the program originated from Gayle Hatch, the USA Olympian Weight Lifting coach in 2004. If I recall correctly, he was promoted several times and trained LSU's top athletes (JaMarcus Russell, Dwayne Bo etc). I think this is a great move for SMU football. Vic is loyal to SMU and wants to see us succeed. Go Vic!

It's going to be a little weird learning to say "COACH VILORIA" .... but man, was there ever a guy who worked harder and played with more passion and left more out on the field than No. 55?

expony18 you just proved my point... he was a good man for job at the time, he improved the program's strength & conditioning. What do you expect that coach to do?? The Football coaches have to have that improvement translated over to the field of play... so yeah, Chuck got his job done . . . either way, it is not worth arguing about. I love Vic and can't wait to see him take SMU Strength & Conditioning another notch higher!

Welcome back Vic! Ya gotta love a guy that had a Mustang tatoo put on his arm!!! I have heard rave reviews from the players, about the first workout under Vic, and his two new assistants! It will be good to see his dad, (Bugsy) puffing on that cigar next year.

I am also very happy to see Vic back as he was a REAL warrior when he was here.

As an outsider, however, I have one question. I never read anywhere that Faucette had left, but, obviously he has. What happened to Chuck? Did Orsini cut him or did he leave for greener pastures? Inquiring minds want to know.

Schools like LSU have training tables for their athletes. Nutrition goes a long way in strength and conditioning. Most of our players get a monthly stipend for expenses, and I doubt if they get the proper nutrition as the money is being spent on other things. I would bet that a lot of the stipend is going for rent, McDonalds, and beer.

That is a great topic. TRAINING TABLE. That is a huge peice of the puzzle that SMU doesn't have. Can new sheriff Steve Orsini do something about this?
