Ninety Six hours from now we could have freezing temperatures in the middle of January!!! Have we ever been given an 8 day warning of an impending WINTER BLAST like this one. Batton Down the Hatches. You have been warned.

Overhyped by the bonehead weathercasters in D-FW.

Notice the Weathermen are starting to get a little testy about the the Blue Northern Artic Express Blast. They are searching for ice all over Dallas County in search of ice on the Top of tall trees.

They won't find any on top of tall trees...it's too warm up there.

Every news director & producer in the Dallas - Fort Worth area jumped for joy when the High Five interchange was finished because they knew they'd always have a location for live shots during these type of weather events. Some stations have even set up permanent cameras there.

The all time classic was when Delkus of Channel 8 this morning around 11:00am said, " if there is ice, it may not melt until Wed or Thursday!"

Still on TV: "This horrible weather may yet get worse!"
I don't have a speck of ice anywhere.

It's official. Ice on Mockingbird bridge over White Rock lake. And the overpass across Buckner on Mockingbird/Peavy.

Delkus sounds like he was a better athlete than weatherman. From his bio on www.wfaa.com:
Delkus also has a long history as an outstanding athlete. As an All-American pitcher, he had an all-star college career including a trip to the College World Series. In fact, he still holds several records as a pitcher at SIUE (Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville). Out of college, Delkus signed in 1987 with the Minnesota Twins organization. In 1988 while pitching for the Single-A team in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Delkus finished the season with 33 saves and a 0.26 ERA. The following year in Double-A Orlando, he played 140 innings and saved 10 games with a 1.87 ERA. He enjoyed a successful career earning the Minnesota Twins Minor League Player of the Year and the Rolaids Relief Man Award. His career ended prematurely due to a serious elbow injury. In all, Delkus played professional baseball for six years with the Twins organization.
Update from north Dallas: on Royal Lane between Hillcrest & Preston, we're getting freezing rain at 2 a.m.

Glad to see that Delkus hasn't changed from when he was up here in Cincinnati. He loved ice and snow up here. It was his favorite time for weather forcasting.

There's a poor sap from Channel 5 who has been at the Dallas mixmaster for 4+ hours this a.m. How many ways can you say "wet, cold, slick?" This afternoon they'll be standing by the storm sewers showing the water running and say, "this is what ice looks like when the temperature gets above 32 degrees."
