Hehehehe, this is under "football".
Beckham is a pretty nuts player, although I thought he might be losing it a bit with this stint at Real madrid.
Sir, shooting-star, sir. Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.

He's a brilliant athlete. Not physically what he once was, but he is considered one of the world's greatest for a reason. Even if he can't do physically what he once did, his mere presence will make everyone else on the Galaxy improve exponentially. Financially, this is a horrible move for the team and for MLS, but in terms of making the L.A. players (and MLS in general) a better league, it's an absolute no-brainer.

Actually, it is a brilliant move for MLS and the LA Galaxy.
LA hasn't even had an official press conference, and yesterday they sold close to 2,000 season tickets. They will sell out every single game in their 27,000 seat stadium. They also just got mentioned on every single front page IN THE WORLD. It would cost a lot more money for that type of advertising. People are going to be wearing Galaxy jersies all over the world now.
MLS finally found a way to get on the front page. When FC Dallas signs Davids next week and NY signs Ronaldo, the true soccer fans in the states (and there are a LOT of them) are going to come out to the games.
This move will do MORE for soccer in the continental US than Gretzky to LA did for Hockey here. MLS will be more highly covered than the NHL by the end of 2008.
