McCoy to TCUCB/WR Greg McCoy of Dallas Woodrow Wilson one of our Top Recruits from Dallas County commits to the Frogs. Maybe he likes Mountains.
Right now I got the scoreboard as at the very least being charitable to Phil Bennett as 5-0 in favor of the Frogs in direct battles between the two schools where both teams have offered.. BTW those numbers don't include a 3 star DE from Irving McArthur and a 3 star 5.7 WR Tejay Johnson from South Garland. So let's call it 7-0 TCU. Biggest difference is TCU is recruiting at the Top of the Area Top 100 while SMU is recruiting at the bottom.
Re: McCoy to TCU
Hard to believe he picked TCU over his chance to work with Bennett, the self-professed expert in developing defensive backs! ![]()
Just so I can keep count as well, which five are you counting?
Greg McCoy, Jeff Olson, Jonathan Jones, Johnny Fobbs and Jai Cavness. Full Disclosure: I'm counting Cavness although not listed as offer on Rivals because he has been committed to TCU for about 1/2 year and a Rivals report I recently posted on this board quoted Cavness as saying that SMU had not given up and was recruiting harder than anyone and I'm including Jontanan Jones because withinin the last two weeks as I reported on this board Jones said SMU was one of his top 4 and he has about 8 offers. You don't keep recruiting committed players and highly recruited players with 8 offers this late in the recruiting season unless you intend to offer, The two other Dallas Metroplex stars TCU is getting are Kelly Griffin from Irving McArthur with offers from Nebraska, Missouri and Oklahoma State and Teejay Johnson from South Garland with offers from the world. You see there is one little Dallas Metroplex private non-BCS school that consistently and I mean consistently outrecruits Big 12 and other BCS schools for its players
No its not spin-SMU was after both kids until the very end. You're the one playing spin games. I cited the sources and quotes. If you want to add to the list with quotes and sources of SMU recruits highly recruited by TCU be my guest-we'd all like to see the info-I'm serious.
quotes from the players own mouths cited on this very board both before and after the commitments. Under you strange viewpoint SMU didn't want about 98% of the Texas Top 100 because SMU didn't "offer" them. That's twisted logic-first you got to get your foot in the door before you can "offer" a player.
You would think we could get a few more of these recruits. I mean what is really so great about spending 4 or 5 years in Ft. Worth. I know, I know I've heard the sales pitch and sure TCU has a good football program to promote now..............but give me a break. I've spent alot of time in Ft. Worth myself and its ok but we should be getting more of the top area recruits to come to SMU. SMU is a great place to go to school. Some of these guys should seriously consider getting a degree from SMU and going to school in a Great City like Dallas.
My perspective is that the TCU Coaches just do a better job in creating the personal relationship in recruiting. I'm serious I don't think I've seen too many TCU recruits over the years bowled over by their facilities. I have heard many TCU recruits say things like McCoy did today-that is that Patterson [or his assistants] were the only coaches that he could really relate to.

Certainly a coach that a recruit can "really relate to" is very important to a young man considering where to go to school but the fact is they are not overwhemingly impressed with their " facilities" etc. So when you get past the "sales pitch" , you would think alot more recruits could see alot of the advantages SMU has to offer. Considering the whole package, SMU is a great place to be.
Whatever you think, stallion. The point is you are only reading what is on rivals and interpreting however you want to. Maybe the two guys committed to tcu because we didn't offer them. I have no idea whether we did or not, but neither do you. Rivals says no offer from SMU for two of them, including Jones. You even know we want Bradley Haynes, and likely more than we wanted Jones.
Considering that tcu has won so many more games over the past several years, gone and won bowl games, one would think that they would recruit better than they have showed. I would be disappointed if I were a tcu fan.
