Keylon Kincade a candidate for the 2003 Doak Walker Award
Senior tailback one of 39 candidates listed
DALLAS (SMU) -- SMU senior tailback Keylon Kincade was named Friday as one of the preseason candidates for the 2003 Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation's top college running back.
Kincade, a Troup, Texas native, posted one of the best statistical season in SMU history last year, rushing an SMU record 327 times for 1,279 yards - third in school annals - and seven touchdowns on is way to second team All-WAC honors.
Kincade is one of 39 candidates for the award, presented by the SMU Athletic Forum. Eight semifinalists will be selected Nov. 19, and the winner will be announced live on ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 11. The Doak Walker Presentation Banquet will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at The Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.
The Doak Walker Award is named after the former SMU great, who became the first college player to win the Heisman Trophy as a junior in 1948.
Former Penn State running back Larry Johnson, currently a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, won the 2002 Doak Walker Award.

And congratulations to KK - the latest great RB at SMU.
I really shouldn't drink and type.
Re: Keylon Kincade named candidate for Doak Walker Award
After the pounding he took last year, KK deserves to be up for every award and all-conference or all-America team out there. He's a "horse."

Re: Keylon Kincade named candidate for Doak Walker Award
It's no surprise that Keylon is on this list. He deserves it!
(I noticed Maurice Clarrett isn't listed. Are sophomores allowed to be nominated, or is it a juniors/seniors list? Or is he off because of his off-field trouble over the summer?)
