I heard the Houston Cougars were in DeKalb visiting Ganaway again yesterday. Haven't heard anything about SMU or anyone else, but I haven't talked to Terrance in a couple of weeks. I don't figure Rice looks as good to him as it did a month or two ago, but I don't know. I guess we will have most of the answers concerning all college recruits here in a couple of weeks.

d pony--i don't understand how anybody can get to the 85 count, what with people leaving programs and what have you. i have a friend who tries to calculate that and he has given up. has somebody in the dept. told you we now have 84 or is that a guess on your part? even so, we could have gray shirts that don't count till next year, right? does anybody have a solid number of recruits we can add?

just adding the number of roster players to the verbals - but you are correct if any of the commitments are gray shirts they will not count until next year but there has been no mention that any of these verbals are gray shirts - last year it was announced who they were and it is a possibilty that some of these new guys could be - then too maybe we have lost a few existing scholarship players - we seem to lose one or two each year - in other words i am guessing (i think educated though)

We only signed 16 last year which means that ALL of those greyshirts plus any JUCOs and Division 1A transfers or late qualifiers can be counted on last years 85 man limit. We should have room for more-plus the 85 man limit is not counted until August 1st. There is no signing date 85 man limit. If a superstar comes around you take him-natural attrition will take care out it. Every year you guys guess too low on the number of scholarships we actually have to give. I think you make a mistake though if you just go after warm bodies at the end.

Thats right - think about the airline industry - they always overbook because they know a few will not show. And with our luck it will be more then a few - - we could go over by 4-5 and be fine.

Copeland did not allow that, when he was in charge.
