Am I reading your post out of context or have you misquoted something possibly? Wouldn't someone naturally be further along before the 2007 season than they were before the 2006 season? I am prolly just interpreting this incorrectly so further explanation would be appreciated. Thanks.

yes all players are a little bit further than they were when they were at the beginning of their freshman season.. but ... players usually gain strenght 6 weeks at a time.. then there workout cycle starts over again.. build for 4-6 weeks and then plateau. retest and build again for 4-6 six weeks.. so IF vic has been hired since last semester then there would be time for players to already see results, such as Diamond M's quote..
saying what i just said, lets give all the guys till spring break, then they will really see improvements.. i say that b/c i do not know when Vic was hired.. I will say this though, there will be some intense lifting going on in that weight room.. guaranteed..

Players lose a bit of weight as the season progresses because there conditioning routine is built to not kill their bodies during the season. That being said, he is already beyond the level of conditioning he was at at the beginning of the last football season. He's not a freshman either, it's not like he's a scout OL and weighs 200 lbs.

Vic will be fine. I dont think he was the most qualified strength coach that was up for the job, BUT i do think he will do a good job. That is the problem with college athletics, it is not just who know you.....ITS ALL ABOUT WHO YOU KNOW!
with that said....GO vic and good luck! You will definatly need it!!!!

I am happy for Vic. But, where did he get his education in body conditioning? must have been one of our new athletic friendly majors!

one thing i will say is you do not need a major in the field to be a great strength coach. This is not rocket science. Think about this. vic spent 3 years at lsu and his whole high school and college career with some good strength coaches. it is not hard to pick up on and learn! Even the certifications do not teach you what you need to know. I would have to say vic is very educated in strength and conditioning. YOu dont need a degree to be educated!!!!!
BUT i will say this...being a head strength coach is only like 10% about your program. there is much much more that goes into the job that im not sure vic is qualifed to do....but he can easily learn on the fly!
good luck man! But, if bennett gets canned in the next year or 2....vic will be out the door also...the way of the business.
