Considering that SMU set the standard for cheating, it's not really disingenuous for anyone to look down at the Ponies.

Disingenuous would better be defined as SMU looking down at a football program like Tech's since SMU will never compete at the level Tech does.

Naw, we would rather wait to play A&M in another bowl game and tie them or beat them like the last time. The only former SWC school we would enjoy playing is t.u. For that we might dust off the poiny express again with the QB pitch that scalded themm so much someone had to sto[ us with the NCAA.

You and I must not have seen the same game last time A&M and SMU played. Some of the people on this board probably weren't even alive the last time SMU beat A&M.

What is the poiny express? And while the QB pitch may have scalded "themm", it happened back when SMU was committing the fraud that drove it to the death penalty. I doubt the current collection of WAC bottomfeeding players would even score on UT.

observe - no interest in aggies visiting - basically the same as tech only more sad. UT would be fun however, at least their fans are somewhat normal.

Dear Unbiased Observer:

Don't kid yourself...UT cheated, Kevin Murray was driving a new 300ZX at aTm, TCU cheated (ask Kenny Davis), Tech cheated, everyone cheated (Maybe not Rice/Baylor at that time)...SMU got caught, that's all.

Look at the SEC now...ARK, TENN, AUB, BAMA, FLA (a few years back) they are ALL guilty...FLA admitted more violations that SMU was found GUILTY of...a few years probation, whoop. BAMA just payed a guy $200k (more than the entire SMU slush)
and got 3 years probation and 21 scholarships... Let's don't forget the academic fraud at GEORGIA and TENN that hasn't been decided on (of course, they won't do anything to them).

Yeah, SMU can't hope to ever have a mediocre program that goes 8-4 or 7-5 every year and never finishes the season ranked, goes 30 years without breaking into the top 10 in the nation or goes 50 years without winning a conference championship outright. One could only wish for a program like that.

A quote from TECH TALK, sent weekly to Tech ticket holders:

"Leach said Monday at his weekly press conference that he has great
confidence in the offense, that he likes the progression of the defense
and hates to watch last year's video of the SMU game (24-14 Tech win)."

We are both playing our first games of the season, with new lineups, etc. On any given day . . .

And "Observer" . . . no doubt SMU was cheating, but I wonder who gave Eric Dickerson his MAROON Corvette . . . um, that wouldn't be SMU. SMU was Death Penaltied for one reason. The NCAA needed an example for all the programs that were cheating, and because of our superior location, not being a "college town" totally dependent on the income of the football fans to exist, slapping SMU did very little economic damage to Dallas. Don't fool yourself that anyone learned from us, the others wrote the book on violations, they just had more alumnae on high places than SMU, calling the shots on protecting their economies.

See you in Lubbock, I'll be sitting with the "eternal optomist" Mr. Mustang 65 (actually, he stole that tag from me !)
"We had losses last year we should be prouder of than the SMU win."
If you can't be a Mustang, marry one !

Last I checked the NCAA major infractions list, SMU and A&M were 1 and 2. I heard that the NCAA is now visiting Mississippi State, Jackie Sherill's new digs. Didn't he get the Ags on probation, I thought so. You better stop reading this Observer, the fries are burning.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Actually it was a gold Trans-AM that ATM gave Eric. Regardless, you're right about the rest of it.

Observer -

Go ahead and tell us about the last couple of times that SMU played the Aggies . . .

That would be 1994 and 1995.

Oh, and by the way -

When you look at the last 25 years, the Ponies are 5-9-1 against the Texas A&M Aggies

So - I would venture to guess that most on this board were alive when SMU last beat A&M . . .

Remember the pass interference call in the 1995 game against #36 Ken "Bulldog" Neil. That was the worst call ever. Not even close to interference. It was the Aggs final drive on 4th down. If there's no call there, ponies win. Aggs ended up scoring to go ahead for the win. That game still ticks me off.

Notice we haven't been on their schedule since then.

While enjoying this banter, I decided to log in at The Princeton Review. It is a subsription service and offers some very interesting information. This service rates schools in almost every conceivable category, both good and bad.If you can't find your school in the various categorical listings, or as one of the top 350 +/- institutions, you can type the name into a search box and it will let you know if you just missed your school, or if it didn't make the cut. I couldn't find TTEch in the list, nor could I find our west Texas friends after a name search. Curious. Must be a glitch.
