Despite turnover collapse we improved vs. UTEP

I really like the motion in the offense and the crisp passing inside. This is the kind of thing we have not seen at SMU since?? Of course this is not a run and gun team and we have had some of those, but this looked like a real offense, especially when the players could actually finish at the basket.

Our Achilles heal of turnovers and especially full court press is something we still need to fix, but I am encouraged. 8)

After watching the game, I had the feeling that no one wanted the ball. When a player got into trouble the other guys just seemed to stay back instead of rushing in to help out. Same for the throw-in. No one seems to try to break open near the ball. I sure hope Doherty has recruited some ball handlers who want the ball when it counts because this team's ball handling skills are ATROCIOUS! :x

I agree that the end of the game looked like that. Either they did not want it, were confused or were looking for someone else to make the play.
