I looked them up and they were listed, but not rated for any of the "fun" categories. Of course, they may define fun differently out there.
I also looked up their Commissioner's Cup standings. They were 102 we were 41. Great overall sports program they have at Tech.

It's too bad that the major conferences really only consider football, basketball, baseball, attendance, revenue, and facilities.

If they considered soccer, badmitton, women's polo, tiddlywinks, and low fan support as things of value then maybe SMU wouldn't be considered a bottom of the barrel program in a bottom of the barrel conference.

That hasn't hurt the Red Raiders nearly as much as the absence of slush funds has obviously hurt SMU.

Those ratings mean that at least we have teams place in the Top 10 in some sports. How many Olympic gold medalists came from Tech? How many teams in how many sports went to the NCAA finals in any sport? At least we're good at something, not mediocre in everything.

Tech is excellent in Women's golf, Lacross, and women's track, very similar to how SMU is good in some minor sports. The bottom line is that no one other than the athletes and their parents really care.

SMU would be smart to invest it's money in the major sports instead of being relegated to bragging about having good teams in sports that no one cares about.

Tech is above .500 in all the major sports. I would agree that some of these records are mediocre. However, playing extremely difficult schedules and being above .500 is much better than SMU's history of playing easy schedules and being a bottom feeder.

I think I hit a nerve! Invest in major sports? Is there a secret slush fund at TT to pay your players? We've built a new football stadium, have you? We've installed new training facilities, student athlete educational assistance programs. Plus, a scholarship at SMU costs 5 times as much as a scholarship at TT. We've added sufficient numbers of non-revenue sports to remain Division 1-A and excelled at those sports unlike TT. I don't know that we can "invest" much more in our major sports without going back to the wild and wooly '80s which we are committed to avoid. We are trying to keep a little land open in case we get the "W" library.

EastStang,...I believe they are in a new stadim or a renovated one. I try to stay away from Lubbock b/c it stinks like cows.

Tech00, go back to your board and go away to Lubbock.

tick00, you wish that only the athletes and their parents were the only ones that care about the minor and Olympic sports. Funny that kids from across the globe recognize, and want to attend SMU just for those very sports. Let's start at home with Michael Carter. Pro Bowl player for 49ers. Three Super Bowls. NCAA champion in shot put and Olympic Silver Medal in the shot put at the 1984 Games. Also, at the time, swimming's golden boy, Steve Lundquist, winning multiple medals.

Brazil's Ricardo Prado winning silver at the 1984 Games.

Slovakia's Martina Maricova winning medalist in swimming.

Sweden's Lars Frolander. Multiple Olympic medalist.

Maybe now you get the point. SMU is internationally recognized. tick is not.

Remember too, SMU has five members in the Football Hall of Fame. tick=0.

Gee, I wish I could go to lubbock too.

Go Ponies!

Actually, Tech has spent more renovating Jones SBC Stadium than SMU's entire new stadium cost. If you want to read about it and see pictures, you can open today's Dallas Morning News (typically, there are no articles about SMU though).

And no, we don't have slush funds for players -- that's an SMU thing.

It's nice that SMU has excelled at the non-revenue sports, but you might try excelling at a revenue sport if you really want to maintain Division IA status. Never going to bowl games or NCAA basketball tournaments isn't going to get you very far, regardless of whether your womens swim team is good or not.
