2 of which against Ark St. and Sam Houston at home. Both of which I would consider complete games being that we absolutely dominated from start to finish as long as our first units were on the field.

Ok i would be shocked to see the defense be better then they were this last year. Not saying they were that good last season but we've lost Justin Rodgers who in my book is the best SMU defensive player in recent years and also losing Sturdivant doesnt help. I just hope that J Will throws up big numbers and doesnt drop the ball this coming season. Finally we need much more production from the backfield. There are three good rb's, we need for one or two of them to have great seasons to be succesfull. I dont agree with the way they were used last year and i would like to see changes there. Mapps is excellent in the open field but you dont but him in on 4 and shorts, that is for one of the bigger backs. Who knows how healthy Demyron Martian will be but Ced I think is the better all around back! Idk we will learn a lot more this spring but I see another 6-6 season and so long Phil!!!

Notwithstanding the statistics experts, I think SMU still has a shot at winning CUSA west.

Biggest depletions on which there is a great big question mark going forward is clearly D-line. Secondary should be both better and more experienced, not necessarily in that order. LBs are solid, don't care what anybody else says. Offense stays relatively intact, and receivers lost should be made up by Burley. I also think tight ends will be in the mix much more. RBs are deep and solid. I hope we see a fullback set emerge. O-line should not be any worse, and I expect that the talent is better.

I actually think our defensive line will be decent to good. However, if we suffer injuries early, we will be roadkill the rest of the season. Very little depth there.

This is Coach Bennett's biggest class, and should provide the biggest and best shot that he will get, notwithstanding a tougher schedule.

Is ashame that we didn't get a JUCO DLineman, and that we do not have last year's schedule. We'd have been a lock.

Well, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

let's see what the team looks like this spring and in pre-season practices before making any predictions. Might want to pay attention to who our opponents add to their rosters, as well.

Those schools dont even compare with smu we should dominate them!! Those were big wins considering we had been embarrassed by UNT a couple of weeks before. But those were not that impressive!

Trust me, I am by no means advocating them is a feather in our cap. My point is the only 2 full games we playeed were against far inferrior competition. Its convenient how that works isn't it?

Our secondary shouldn't prove to be our main Achilles heel anymore either. All in all, we SHOULD have a good season if we can just gain some consistency and play 4 quarters a game. We would have easily been 9-3 if we had played all 4 quarters of the game (UTEP, Houston, Rice). I guess all will be revealed when spring ball comes around though.

If this but that. If UH or Rice plays 4 quarters of the game they don't just win, they blow us right off the field.

We aren't talking about what UH or Rice should have done. Leave that to them. We should only be concerned with what we could have done, and more importantly should have done. We need to utilize our capabilities and take advantage of the opportunities we present ourselves with.

I'm quite aware of what we didn't do. I am pointing out that the apocalyptic attitude towards this team is getting old very quickly. No, I'm not saying be so optimistic that you're blind to the problems. When you expect to win, you are already halfway there. Same goes with losing. So why don't we expect to win for once? Why do you have this point to focus merely on the negative and never accept the positives for what they are?

We go through this every off-season, preseason, postseason, off-season, preseason, postseason etc, etc. Half the people [deleted] we suck, the other half [deleted] that the bitchers shouldn't [deleted].

It all gets old, and eventually you'll turn to the dark side, most people do, I did, it's inevitable when you watch this crap on the field. Now I just sit back and laugh when people predict winning seasons. I still hope for a winning season, my total lack of knowledge in statistics tells me we should be trending up any year now, but I don't expect one anymore.

Now that's just stupid, Bennett is that you? Have you drawn a new sweep or outside run yet for fourth and short?

What was it 85% of the people on this board predicted a bowl last year. 'Nuff said. It's waste of breath.

I don't know the exact percent, but it sounds right.

About a week before the first game, we need a special thread where everyone posts their predictions, game by game outcome (I don't care for scores), and final record.

The winner can get something from the ponyfans store (your welcome webbies). But more importantly this thread will be a sticky and everyone will be able to be referenced and chastised based on their predictions. It will make for lively banter.

Why make it a sticky when this last season we created a new one every 5 minutes?

You know what? I just don't give a damn anymore. Truly. SMU athletics has finally made me retch. I'm sick and tired of expecting a loss every Saturday and being pleasantly surprised by a win come Sunday morning. I'm not renewing my Mustang Club membership this year. I'm not buying season tickets this year. I may not renew my S.M.U. license plates for this year. SMU has no commitment to its athletic program. It's all smoke-and-mirrors with Turner, Orsini and the rest of the athletic department and the Mustang Club. I'm as mad as hell and I just can't take it anymore.

Here's my prediction: 0-12. Hasta la vista.
