The 'geniuses' at Ch. 8 chose to put their new broadcast studio there at Victory Park, complete with 'windows on the world' just like The Today Show. Drunk and rowdy fans are banging on the windows all through the broadcast! People shouting obscenities, shooting the finger, sticking out their tongues, generally acting like idiots on TV for all the world to see.
Statement of the night goes to weatherman Pete Delkus about the unruly people outside the studio: "Those are some of Hansen's buddies!"

Wait til some guy decides he needs to go to the bathroom. Do they tape delay the news? I can see a wardrobe malfunction coming to your television soon.

Already happened (the cowboys locker room fiasco last season). Also on ch. 8 I believe.
Remember that Ch. 8 is also the station that had a guy 'streak' by a reporter during a 'live' report from out in the field within the past couple of years. It's on YouTube somewhere, I believe.

why is it that this is ok for NY, but not ok for Dallas?

Good natured [deleted] talk is ok, because most people are amused by it. I didn't read most of the SMU, UMC, Library thread but I can guess it got into quite a bit of unfounded name calling, and not in a good-natured I'd let you do my sister you fuckhead kinda way.
As far as why it's ok to do in NY and not here.....well....I assume you are talking about the Today Show. The main difference is that the Today Show is taped at the butt crack of dawn, they have security to keep you from taking off your clothes (i tried), and it isn't next to a sports arena where everyone was just drinking. I would be that if you put the studio next to the Myerson it wouldn't be a problem at all.
