Roberts' injury, per Coach Doherty, is a bone bruise, not a ligament strain. Sounded like the fear was it could be worse. GET BETTER, DERRICK!

I'm becoming a fan of Brian Epps. He's not a star, but the man has worked hard. What has he lost, 30 pounds since last year? Nice shot, even though it didn't fall tonight.

Killen and Willingham did a nice job controlling the backcourt tonight. They're not Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, but they were decent with the ball tonight, which was encouraging. Nice defensive effort down the stretch, especially by Ike Ofuegbu and Dez Willingham and Jon Killen.

Congratulations to Coach Doherty on the your C-USA win -- here's to many, MANY more!

well, maybe someone needs to beat the [Deleted] out of the upper classmen pikes.

I'm not advocating that someone actually do it, maybe we should just take the same attitude with them.

Additionally, I don't care if they wear something with their greek letters as long as it also has SMU on it, and is in Red and Blue
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

The Pikes have been the core of vocal support. I'm sure there are a lot of other greeks in attendance, but the Pike shirts are dominant. Idea.... they all have a red "Moody shirt", so why not pull on the red shirt(over their Pike shirt) at TIP-OFF - take off the red at halftime - then put on the red at the start of the 2nd half? I think the fraternity deserves recognition for their support but they can also help lay the groundwork for a future "RED OUT" at Moody. That may be a year or so up the road, but it's never too early to prime the pump. A big THANKS to the Pikes for setting a terrific example of SMU spirit --- it makes a difference. We need to start rounding up the troops for the Penders appearance on Wednesday, February 7. 7:00 p.m.

You've got to give it to Doherty. He's really been out there selling the team. With the losing streak that we were on, past years' experience would make me think that we'd have very few students and very few other fans at the game. If Doherty can sell the product we've seen on the court recently and have the turnout we've had, I can't wait to see what it's like when he can put a better product out there.

I sent him a note last night just to say congrats on the win and by 9am this morning I had a reply. It was completely unnecessary, he doesn't know me from Adam (and no reason he should) but it was a nice gesture. He's very classy.

Random thought. Why do we get silence from the gloom and doomers on this board on positive subjects such as this? Leads one to wonder why these chatty kathy dolls suddenly go silent upon the mention of good things happening on the Hilltop. Do they have personal vested interests in SMU failure? Makes one wonder.

maybe the negative criticism is more constructive rather than when it is positive...........

I agree constructive criticism is needed. But you'd expect a balancing comment when good things occur as they undeniably ARE happening on the roundball front (and to a lesser extent with football with the emergence of Justin Willis and the surprisingly better than expected showing in football recruiting). This constant drumbeat of criticism is running good fans off. That's a shame as there is plenty to get pumped up about on the Hilltop. Plenty to improve upon no doubt, but plenty to be excited about.

I personally don't care what the students wear....as long as they show up.

I did like when the whole student section would wear their Mustang Maniacs shirts but if the greeks want to wear their colors and go crazy...far be it from me to criticize them....I am just damn glad they were there and being so rowdy....definitely added to the atmosphere.

The crowds lately have been really enthusiastic this year....when there is something to cheer for.....Moody was like a cemetary the first half when the team could never get going....but during the second half during the comeback....everyone was going nuts.

You shouldn't need to reward behavior that is minimally acceptable.

Very true. I can't remember that many showing up for consecutive games before. Good to see despite our on the court showing. Doherty was encouraging the fans to get loud toward the end of the game.

thought it was great when doherty gestured to the student section for more noise. it was a gutty comeback after an atrocious 30 minutes. good thing smu got that win at home.

I love you too, man.

Frankly, I wasn't even thinking about you when I posted above. You do have a negative and selective bent, but you balance it pretty well with genuine excitement when good things happen. Would I expect you to gush - ever? No. I think we've all come to accept you as the curmudgeon that you are and take your very well informed opinions cum grano salis.

I'm talking about those who create a defeatist atmosphere on this board and make honest to goodness real fans afraid to post support for their school. They are the enemy.
