5-7; basically 3-7 elimnating two teams that shouldn't even be on the schedule.

Good morning ponyfans users; Ben's Dad here. Couple of things I would like to share with you that I think give some insight to this coming season. First, while it is less than two weeks into the official off season program, the strength and conditioning program under Vic's leadership is a HUGE step up according to many of the players and more importantly it looks like the whole team has bought in. Second, three of our assistant coaches had offers at other universities and all three turned them down, one of which was a big jump. None of them want to miss the "payday" after all they have been through. Third, PB stated at the Awards function last Saturday that there is one goal and one only this year and that is a Conference Championship. No mention of any "good tries" or play to the best of our abilities" or other feel good goals.
You are sorely underestimating this team in my opinion but I understand that after what most of you have been through over the years watching the program. But talk is cheap and I am much more interested in the team chemistry, work ethic and experience level of this group. So no predictions from me other than come next December I believe you will be in a much better frame of mind about SMU Football.

Great to know. Pure strength can make a big difference in key situations.

Correction: first and goal from the 1 TWICE in a game deciding your bowl bid or not.
AND all the strength in the world by our players won't matter if our coaches have their head up their as*es while they call plays.

Perhaps a bigger and stronger O-Line may lead to a different play call.

Huh??????
Bamba could stand to gain a bunch of weight. I surmised from Mr. Poynter's post that Vic could help Bamba with such. Didn't mean to confuse ya.

Is that when the new head football coach is announced? Only thing I can think of.

The only way we get better results is with real upgrades in our team. Where is that coming from? With more experience at QB and healthy RBs I can see the offense getting better. Several WRs have graduated with key ones remaining and several new ones coming in so if that is solid the offense can improve.
Defense - the line is all but gone. There are big question marks there. The best we can hope for is a slight drop off it seems. LBs should be better after the mid season coverage and tackling meltdown. CBs could be improved with experience but Sturdivant will need to be replace at Saftey. Overall it looks like the best we can expect is about the same level as last season.
If we are the same or slightly better (offense) and our opponents are about the same, then we will need to win all of our close games and have an upset or two to get to the championship. But hey, UCF made it.
Go Ponies!! Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad

Can he catch? Perhaps we could use him as a receiver for football...
Actually, come to think of it, that's not a half-bad idea.
