Rivals lists Melville as 6'5" and 195. Says he has equal (medium) interest in Nebraska, American, Arkansas-Little Rock, Colgate, SFA, TCU, Centenary and Southern, with offers from Colgate and Centenary.
Rivals says Graham (5'10", 175) has high interest in SE Louisiana and UNC-Greensboro, and medium interest in Memphis, Texas A&M, Holy Cross, Sam Houston State, Southern Illinois and SMU. Only reported offer is from SE Louisiana.
I'm glad to see Graham has SMU on his list.
2 more sleepers in the area. Darrick Thomas 6'7 Samuell Braxton Adamson 5'11 Rockwall Both are very good players who are major college talent. ![]()
Rivals means nothing to me other than a sometimes useful database.
Not always accurate but for some its all you got to refer to re: some of these kids. Thomas is one of the top 5 players in Dallas (seniors) while the kid from Rockwall is a very good player who would be a nice fit with SMU. So including the original message regarding Fulce, add Graham, Melville, Thomas & Adamson & you have 5 solid prospects right here in the metroplex.
are you kidding???? You serioiusly want to offer a guy that only has offers from SE louisiana and VMI. Look at the other guys in this recruiting class. Dont you think you are setting the bar a little low?
As for the 6'7" kid, I doubt that he is high D1 talent. There are not too many 6'7" kids in the metroplex with his stats that get overlooked. He is probably a kid that is just a lot taller than his opponents and lacks the skills that translate to D1 basketball
Have you seen them play?
Do you have anything to go by other than what the almighty Rivals sz or doesn't say. Do you believe that just because Rivals sz something that it's 100% accurate? Go see the 2 kids play & I think your opinion might be a little different. Also, its too bad that the good 6"7 players in the Dallas area don't end up at SMU. :
Melville is a good high school player who will have difficulty moving to the next level. He is a better low post player and 6'5" at best is just not big enough to play down low. He better grab that Centenary offer and go join his teammate from last year. Adamson? Please.......5'9" at best, shooting guard. Plays point out of need, plus he gets to shoot whenever. Slow footed and dribbles with his head down most of the time, and no defense. If he has an offer anywhere, he needs to take it............... Rumor has it Fulce is looking at Tech. If he can handle Knight (huge if), Knight will have himself a sweet class for next year.
FulceJust a few words - I saw Joseph play over 20 games over a two year
period in Plano - He is the real deal and would probably be a great addition if we could get him. However He does have academic issues and he did have a bad leg or knee during his senior year of high school. By the way - he is not a point guard. He is A shooting guard or small forward. He is a good passer and assist man but he can also finish.
No disrespect but he is not like Sam Perkins. He is a 6'7, 4/3 that is not particularly skilled. He is a good athlete and is more of a mid level Division I player. Not a guy like Perkins who's jersey is going to hang in the rafters at the Smith Center and play double didget years in the NBA!!! If he stays in the East he will probably end up at a Colonial Conference level school...maybe the A10. ACC/Big East is a real reach.
No disrespect but you are completely missing the boat on what he said. He said Fulce has a tall lean frame with a long wingspan, like Sam Perkins. He did not say he had a similar style game or that he was any better or worse of a prospect than Perkins.
Saw Adamson play over the weekend (actually saw clips of him on TV). If he's really 5'9" he has zero shot of playing Div. 1-A ball, as he also has essentially no jumping ability and a very unorthodox shooting motion (although, to be fair, the results are pretty good), and unless you're as fast as T.J. Ford, you're not going to get away with that at the college level. And he's nowhere NEAR as fast as T.J. Ford. Very few human beings are.
In my earlier emails I mentioned that the kids from Rockwall & Samuell are sleepers. I think they can contribute to a major college program, maybe the end of the bench but they can play. You may have seen Adamson's worst performance of the year over the weekend.
You also have to project where the player will be down the line. Look @ Spencer, he can't play but hopefully in a couple of years he will develop into a good player. Adamson reminds me of a kid that played @ UTA over the last few years by the name of Dawkins. Dawkins would be starting a PG for SMU this year. Melville, Fulce & Graham are good players that could help.
Adamson's performance this past weekend is what happens when a slow, short kid who can't create his own shot gets defended by a decent defensive player. Multiply that by about 10 and that's what this kid will face in college.
Matt Williams was much faster, quicker, could jump, could create his own shot, had a faster release, had a jump shot, and was a much better shooter than this kid in high school. He struggled to get his shot off in practice last year. If Adamson has an offer to a school in Louisiana, he should take it.
Spencer was is an athletic 6'6" guy this guy is 5'9". With Spencer we needed a player badly; he was raw but had a good bball frame and mind… a lot different situation. You don’t recruit for the end of the bench. You recruit for the starting line up and let the best players play. Nothing like a little competition for playing time. It could have done wonders for BHop and Sasser.
