The talk at 24 hour fitnessThree guys came up to me today and asked about the best recruiting class SMU has had in years. Their statement.
I know that PB has some good guys and of course some BIG MEN in this class but how do these NON SMU guys know. Have we been showed on the news? Are the services talking up SMU? Did we get a 4 star player? It was good to see the interest from people that want SMU to do well. Go Mustangs Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Oh goody! The best recruiting class in years from our head coach in his 6th year. That's THE PROBLEM. Rising from pathetic to mediocre in a head coaches' 6th recruiting season is a signal he probably ain't going to get a 7th recruiting season. But its really not much to get worked up about because Bennett will either take SMU to a bowl in 2007 or he will be fired after this year anyway. How many years is SMU going to get the advantage Tulsa, Tulane, and Rice replacing coaches late in the recruiting season plus TCU's coach flirting with several jobs.
Hello Ark!
At least it is after 5 and he had a few belts of scotch before he replied. Stallion is ALWAYS going to complain. That is who he is. I hope all is well with you and the General!!! Keep straight. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Stallion's an [deleted], but I don't see how he's wrong here.
I also don't see why this class is better than the '05 class. I'm just not feelin' it. Though it does look from all appearances to be better than the '06 class, which would mean that this IS the best class in years... two year to be specific lol. -CoS
First, let's get honest. We won't beat out A&M and UT recruiting. We probably won't beat out OU, OSU, TT or Baylor due to their Big XII membership. We can only hope that we beat out TCU, UH, Rice, UTEP, Tulsa and UNT for Texas recruits. Given our ineptitute over the past 20 years, we have to be satisfied with being in the ballpark with them. It appears that we are doing that. If we can break through, have a winning season and go bowling, then we'll have a chance to get a second look from other players. Until then, we're just part of the pack. At least we're not at the bottom of the pack anymore.
Forget about recruiting with BCS schools- what I don't understand is how you guys get so pissed about finishing 6th in 5 bowl bid conference every year and yet are always giddy about finishing 7-12th in recruiting every year in a very weak conference. Mediocrity going in-mediocrity going out.
Stallion, I accept your frustration at not being at the top of CUSA recruiting classes. That should be our goal and result. However, once these 'student-athtetes' commit and then enroll at SMU, they are not longer mediocre, they are fellow Mustangs! And we will be proud of what they do for their teammates, our university and us. Next week, Welcome aboard! Go Mustangs! (And, Go Bears, Claw the Colts) Pony Up
How else would I stay so fit.
Actually, my wife and I started working out last June. This Dec. 31st we gave up smoking. OK it has only been 33 days but I do not miss it. 24 Hours is close to the house and I feel great. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
As for the " best recruiting class in years" .....in 2003 we had 10 Rivals three star recruits commit, in 2005 we had 6 three star recruits commit, and 3 three star recruits have verbally commited at this point this year. I believe our 2003 class was rated in the Rivals top 60. Lets hope we "finish strong" as Coach Bennett has said we will.
Hey, why did you change your moniker? "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
