Regarding that last line....don't go there...please, PLEASE don't go there.
I've never had a problem with SMU, but with every post I'm reading here, I'm starting to realize just how much fun it was to watch that beating today.

that would be a shortened term for a Porsche. it's a "porsh" kinda like a chevrolet or "chevy" i'd think you rich boys would know that. Go Tigers!!! Drew
We don't shorten the names of our expensive foreign cars. We type it all out to make sure you understand you'll never be in our socio-economic class. Jeeves is excellent at dictation, by the way.

Alfred is too. By the way, it's not "porsh". It may sound like it is but that is the Americanized pronunciation. I'm glad you didn't pick to spell Lamborghini.

I have a lot of respect for Memphis basketball. They're the flagship of our conference. Take the trash talk for what it is. We're just messing with you.
p.s. Our endowment is over 5x what yours is, kiddo. Check Wikipedia. That's a website. On the Internet. Try the library.
 Just kidding.

Are you joking? Talking about cheating from the school who is best known for getting the death penalty? Boy for a school that prides itself on being such an academic juggernaut-that tired old put down about Tennesseans needing a shoe salesman and a dentist is really pathetic. It shows lack of focus and intelligence to not be able to stay on focus about a thread topic: We absolutely drilled you today in basketball our 2nd team could have beaten you by 20-they actually increased the lead in the second half with the starters on the bench. This is a basketball board right? Anyways its all in good fun little ponies. Good luck the rest of the year.

Sorry son...there is no shortened term for Porsche. Just admit you couldn't spell it and be done with it.

gomemphishicks - thanks for showing us you have buildings rather than shanties. I didn't know that. Y'all have come a long way. Thems pretty.

We got our @ss handed to us, shut up. To compare SMU to Memphis is completely ridiculous...like the score.

I for one am glad to have seen the nice pictures of the physical plant offered to us. From what I can tell, Memphis compares favorably to, say, North Lake College.
At any rate, I'm sure none of us minded when our on-campus football facility was the crappy offices and locker rooms at Ownby, yet we were consistently in the top 5-top 10 in football. Nice problem to have.
It's good for SMU and CUSA that Memphis is so good, lest the conference become an also-ran in bball.

this thread represents why the DFW community doesn't relate to SMU. We get our arses handed to us by a team that is clearly the top bball program in CUSA (we should be thankful the conference has at least one program that might actually make some noise in the postseason) and the talk is the typical SMU eliteist "how much better our school is than yours"
There's nothing to enjoy about losing and we can only hope that Doherty can rebuild this program to where SMU/Memphis is someday a meaningful bball series played in front of enthusiastic sellout crowds. After all, we at least have a history of far more success in bball than on the gridiron.
Congrats to Memphis on the win and their dominance of this conference. I sincerely hope you guys represent CUSA well in the NCAA Tourney because you look to be our only bid.

..I started the thread, by saying it was men v. boys, Memphis has a strong team, can shoot the rock, heck..I even clapped for them durng the game, cheered some of their moves, glad we will get some $$ if they make a deep run in the tourney, told folks at church this a.m that this years team might be better than last years..I had two concerns / issues with Sat. morn..the FACT that we got blown out and the FACT that the Memphis fans are redneckily obnoxious...sorry Drew, was wearing plain old Levi's and a red pull over, sat with my kids and cheered FOR my team, not AGAINST yours...Memphis State, for a wide variety of reasons (including what most think of their school), has a big old chip on their size XXL, BBQ stained shoulder...why your fans felt it necessary to mock our team, laugh when one of our guys went down, cheered in a combative / nasty manner, only cements your stereo-type, Drew..others, UT / Ole Miss / Vandy fans have shared similar experiences, you need to get over it, "you is what youy is, boy", a third rate commuter school in a crap [deleted] part of town, where students go who really have no other choice (sort of sad)..nice win, GREAT team, I have said that till I am blue in the face, the class of the league, too bad the Mempho fans do not mirror their squad.

you have NO idea just how much we mirror our squad... we take pride in our program AND our university...we don't like it when people try and downplay our significant strides as both an athletic department and as a school of higher learning simply because we're a public school that doesn't get the option to turn away students simply because they don't have a 4.0 GPA. i love your Memphis insinuations ...we're all fat, black hating folk, straight out that thar trailer over yonder...i would love to get your impressions of Knoxville or Chattanooga...sounds like you're nothing more than a racist thats simply afraid to say Memphis has black people and that's why you don't like it here...you have a negative view of Memphis in general...that means going into the game all you want to see is negativity...and that's all you got (and what you deserved)...if that's how you're going to act i would suggest not going to away games anymore. why you would even mention the word class and Ole Miss in the same sentence is beyond me. why would you expect Memphis fans to root for SMU??? we love our Tigers...i might not have a problem with your team...but when you play us, i want your team destroyed, and we're very good at doing that i might add...i don't want moral victories...i want wins, and as a fan base we expect nothing less...that's why we're going to be a top 10 when the polls come out on Monday...we have a will to win, everyone else be damned. the more i read your board...the more fun yesterday was for me...when it comes to basketball, SMU will never be at the elite level Memphis is...all the academics in the world won't help you. i guess the NCAA really did give SMU the death penalty...it not only killed your program...but the sanity of your fanbase as well. i hope you guys have a sell out when we roll into town so you can all see with your own eyes just how much better we are than SMU...and even North Carolina's leftover coach won't be able to help you. Sorry son...there is no shortened term for Porsche. Just admit you couldn't spell it and be done with it.
i direct you to a group called "porsh force" it's a group of european porsche owners that test out race tracks...my neighbors rebuilt 1987 911 carrera license plate..."porsh"
IF i had simply misspelled the word i would have said so.
now, have a GREAT night.
Go Tigers!!!
