RIP Jim Wacker

Postby SmooBoy » Tue Aug 26, 2003 4:38 pm

Died today of cancer. While he wasn't your prototypical NCAA coach, I always loved his enthusiasm and colorful spirit he brought to the old SWC. Raise a glass for an old frog today.

I second that. He brought a refreshing friendliness and enthusiasm to the game. He was always fun to listen to.

Sad to hear that...he was one of a kind. He always gave an intertaining interview and brought a smile to people's faces.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Sad news indeed. I will always remember him for his years at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. He took the Bobcats to a higher level in Div.1-AA and always made the games between my alma mater, Sam Houston State, and SWTSU entertaining. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Peace.

Jim Wacker was an absolute hoot, one-of-a-kind, an American original, who always conducted himself with integrity. My heart goes out to the Wacker family, and all Frog brethren on this day. College football world needs a few more Jim Wackers.

On a day like today, even the most fanatic Mustang feels for the folks in the TCU community.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
