It is rumored here in the Natural State that Frank Broyles will resign tomorrow as Athletic Director at the University of Arkansas effective the end of 2007.
I am sure that will be followed by the announcement of hell freezing over and the Mustangs going to the final 4.
If true, sports pages and sports talk shows will be more fun than ever here in Arkansas.

I got a better chance of being named the father of Anna Nicole Smith's child than Broyles announcing his retirement.

Is Broyles selling his majority interest in the franchise?

Not sure. He sold his soul quite a while ago.

Word this morning is that he retires today or tomorrow the Board of Trustees meets and sends him packing.

This over the Mustain thing?
Mustain and the rest of his "The Hills Have Eyes" family are TOXIC.
Anybody willing to give that kid a chance now deserves getting whatever is coming to them.
Whatever happened to going to college on scholarship, getting your degree and/or leaving early to go to the NFL like a good little boy.
Geez.

The whole thing is a sopa opera here. Yesterday there was 1 1/2 pages including the front page of the sports section devoted to an email that a female Arkansas fan had sent to Mustain, cussing him out and calling he and the other kids that came with him a bunch of derrogatory names. She sent a copy of the email to Nutt's wife who in turn sent it to a bunch of other people with her own comments added. Apologies have been made by the Chancellor and Nutt to Mustain and his mother. The fan has been exiled as a booster.
BUT I think the Broyles thing is just a matter of him being at Arkansas long enough and they feel it is a time for new blood. They want him to retire effective the end of 2007 and let him have his "going away tour".

In addition to Broyles, there are still a lot of rumblings to oust Nutt. There is great fear that key assistant coaches will hit the rode as well. It is just one more episode in the great soap opera "As the Hog Turns" over an open flame.

And of course the most common saying from The Hill is "you can not fire Stan Heath before you fire Nutt", and most here want Heath fired. There could be a whole lotta clean out going on.

The message boards in Arkansas are reporting from "reliable sources" (we all know how this works don't we?) that Broyles will step down at either 9:30 or 10:30 tomorrow morning.
