HUGE win last night over Rice.

One of the freshmen, Delisha Wills, is going to be a bona fide star before she's through at SMU, like a "hang her jersey in the rafters next to Karlin Kennedy" kind of star. Brittany Gilliam is inconsistent, but has the talent to be almost as good. Alice Severin will never get the credit she deserves, but she's the kind of player every team wants/needs - she won't fill up the stat sheet every night, but does all the dirty work. At one point last night, she had three offensive rebounds .... in THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES OF THE GAME. She went to war with Rice's two bigs, and more than held her own, freeing up Janelle Dodds to do her thing at the other end. Great performance by the freshmen.

Dodds was vastly improved last night. Not like the Tulsa game at Moody earlier this year, when she threw in 30 points or something, but better than the last few games, when she was sort of asleep at the wheel. Cobb looks like she's back to about 100 percent. Sharee Shepherd was a stud on the defensive end, chasing and harrassing her man (woman) all night. She was everywhere. Samuels is becoming a serious bomber from 3 - kid's got big range.

More than anything, the Ponies pressured the hell out of the Owls, and made smart decisions. Didn't force passes into heavy traffic, didn't jack up stupid shots. Cobb ran the offense pretty fast in transition, but pulled it back when a lane (either to drive or pass) wasn't there. She didn't shoot that well last night, but everyone knows she can drain her shots.

Anyone who saw the crash landing that happened against ECU should have been there last night. Outstanding job last night, Ponies!

Keep it cranked up Saturday afternoon: play smart, pressure on defense, and kick the crap out of Cougar High!

Tomorrow's game is huge, and the last home game of the year. I'm coming up early to see both.

Go PONIES!

Great wins over the weekend! I saw the Rice win, but was on the road during the win over Houston. Looks like Janelle Dodds is back to her old self. Keep it up, Ponies!
