What are your thoughts!!

The debate is on in my office....

We all have a tendecy to overstate our capabilities, talents and credentials. A great Mississippian, by the name of Mark Twain, once said," Let's gather all the facts first, and then allow your opponent to distort them". After a careful perusal of S.M.U football schedule which includes the great powerhouses: Texas Tech, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Arkansas State, Tulane, UTEP, Marshall, East Carolina, UAB, Houston, Tulsa, Rice, there is only one conclusion can be rationalized.
S.M.U. average opponent was ranked in the bottom 110 of college football teams.
When S.M.U.played opponents ranked above 50, they got creamed by 50 as in the case against Texas Tech.
When S.M.U.played opponents ranked between 50 and 65 they got handily beat by an average of three touchdowns as in the case against East Carolina.
Whereas, Miss.State opponents(8) were all in the top 25. The other two were all above thirty and the other two were in the top 70.
Five of Miss. State opponent were ranked in the top 10 when we played them.(Three were ranked number 2 when we played them and led all of them at halftime)
you are a lot smarter than your comments about S.M.U being a better football team than State. Our Second team can beat S.M.U 10 OUT OF TEN TIMES ON ANY GIVEN DAY OF THE WEEK.. Finally, I am almost fifty years old and I bet you I could get six sacks against S.M.U offensive line.

I think you should retype your post to make it a bit more coherent. Then I think you should change your screen name. Might I suggest something like "fishoutofwater" or "iliketostiruptroublefornoreason"
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

When did Hannibal move to Mississippi and who is this guy?

I would like him to work for me. I never would have guessed we got beat and beat badly several times in the last few years. He could have the positiion of "person who states the obvious in a totally idiotic manner that can not be comprehended".

No. I work with this guy. He said that there is no comparrison between Mississippi State and SMU. HE says that if MSU were in our conference they would never lose and that we play the skill level of local high schools. Just wanted to see what your thoughts were about the situation on if SMU can compete with the 3 and 9 MSU

Didn't they lose to Tulane last year? There goes that theory.

1. MSU lost to Tulane and barely beat UAB 16-10. So the beating handily argument is trash. They beat 1 of the 2 C-USA bottom dwellers they faced this year.

2. Last time I check 35 minus 3 does not equal 50.

3. Houston, Tulsa, and Rice were in the 50-60 range and we were in all 3 games (winning 1).

4. Our average opponent ranking in the final CBS 119 poll was 73.3 (We were ranked 70th)
MSU's average opponent ranking was 41.5 (MSU was ranked 95th).

I think your Bulldog co-worker needs to check his facts before he makes too much a fool of himself.

there is no way in hell that either Rice or Tulsa were anywhere close to the top 50-60 teams in the country. Just because they beat up on the other pathetic teams in this conference proves nothing. go watch some real college football. The CBS poll is crap.

Chances are if SMU and Mississippi State played a series, neither team would dominate the other. I'd bet it would be a fairly competitive series.

That's OK .... so is a Mississippi State degree!
