Injury Report

Postby No Quarter » Thu Aug 28, 2003 1:58 pm

I looked over the Game Day Notes again and did not see SMU injuries mentioned. I know that Bean has not yet practiced this fall and that Bonds and Taylor are out fo rthis game. Also, I guess you would say that Hargis may not be full speed.

Anybody else hurt?

It is a Federal crime to report injuries on players without the player's written permission. It is par to HIPPA regulations.

Injuries are part of the players' personal health history and that information is protected information according to HIPPA regs.

And I know what you are thinking. Does this mean that injuries can not be report to the public even if the kid is standing on the sideline with a cast on his left leg? And the answer is yes. Regardless of how lamebrain the Regs, one cannot expect an injury report without the players permission.

actually though for as long as I've been following SMU Football we have had less crippling, season missing injuries or defections than in just about any season I can remember. No Vic Viloria, Cunningham, Marcus Pratt, David Page, Kelan Luker McCown transfer, Sanders transfer, et al I guess our biggest loss has been Francis. There have been plenty of others in numbers but few were vital to our success. Texas Tech for example has something like 5 out of 6 DE hurt and seems like just about half their defense has some problem.

Have to disagree on that one. After watching Flanigan get injured seemingly every year of his career, and watching us lose to TCU (and lose out on a bowl game) because every tailback on our roster was injured, i haven't felt like our luck has been that great in the injury dept.

correction: OK, nevermind -- i just re-read stallion's post. Things are busy here. :]

ponyte - Thanks for citing the rule.

Stallion - Mostly I agree with you. Most of the losses, e.g. Meachum and Young and a couple more seem to have been players the coaches had lost interest in.

If this turns into a discusion of worst seasons for injuries and other losses, I'd mention what I recall as Fry's second season. High, high hopes. Lots of injuries.

With Texas Tech's D-Line in disarray, we may be able to run the ball effectively. If we can limit our turnovers and limit the 'big play' we can play with Tech. I hope our safety play has improved from last year. We could even win if we can run the football adn control the clock and hit them big with the play action pass. I would feel much more confident that we can could them a good game if we were at home again. Win or lose, I hope we can play a respectable game.
