LIVE WITH THE FREE WIRELESS CONNECTION FROM THE LOBBY OF THE DOUBLETREE HOTEL IN TULSA

Let's just say that tonight was two halfs of basketball. Good thing that Katy Cobb almost single-handedly kept us in this game in the first half. #14 from UCF was hitting threes and nothing we threw up went in.

According to the asst. coaches, a spirited halftime talk by Rhonda sparked the girls and they came out with a new determination in the second half. Janielle decided to dominate, as she can do, and we built a lead quickly that we would not give up. Props to Delisha Wills who played hard despite fouling out on several very picky calls. Defense was HUGE in the 2nd half.

Friday's game vs. ECU should be an interesting game. If JD plays up to her potential, we could see another lower seed win.

In earlier games, Tye Jackson from Houston lit up Marshall for 43 in the Cougars win. It's a new CUSA single game tournament record.

Hometown team Tulsa took it to Southern Miss as well. With Jillian Robbins in foul trouble, the Golden Hurricane kept their lead and held on late to beat the #7 seed.

The real tournament starts later today as the four top seeds, who received byes, begin action against Thursday's winners.

Go Mustangs!

One other note - after seeing Big Bertha in Moody, the very nice scoreboard in the Reynolds Center just doesn't measure up. Size matters! LOL!

Let's hope for a little payback against ECU. Go Ponies!

It looked to me about the same size. Actually, pretty darn close to the same scoreboard. Just in a roomier space.

I believe it was a different brand, and even thoough the screen may have been a little bit smaller (not sure), it looked like it was a higher resolution and didn't look as blocky as ours (not that I'm complaining, it's still a million times better than the old one).
