Dodds just tied it up and passed Jennifer McLaughlin for seventh place on the all-time SMU scoring list -- and three points shy of Claudia Broussard. At the line .... good.
Ponies up by one.

Well crap - nice run down the stretch of the season, Ponies.
Work harder than ever this offseason, and come back to WIN the conference next year. You exceeded expectations this year, but it's also a year you can build on. We're proud of you!

There's no way to win when you shoot 30% for the game. Janielle Dodds brought it tonight, as well as she could, and tried her best to get us a win. In the end, and I haven't seen a box score, no one else really got hot to help her out.
The talk during the game , and postgame, was the officiating. We didn't lose becaue of it, (see 30% comment earlier), but they did us no favors. I think both teams would say it was a very poorly officiated game. I talked to one other coach who said she wondered how these officials were working a tournament game - they were that bad.
Looking on the bright side, which is all I can think about right now, is that ALL of our players return next year. We'll get Katie Gross back and this year's freshmen will have a year of experience under their belt. Add in super recruits Haley Day from Rockwall and LaLa from FW Dunbar and this team should be the favorite to win the conference.

I agree about the officiating, it wasn't what killed us, but it did break up the flow of the game and I think that kept us from establishing a rhythm. The officials let the game get away from them early and spent the entire second half trying to regain control. Once we fell behind towards the end though, we couldn't hit a 3 to save our lives and we weren't being aggressive enough to get to the foul line. Our guards did not shoot one free throw. Only JD and Alice got to the line.
I was shocked to see that ECU won the tournament though, I thought both Rice and UAB were far better teams than them.
