See you Saturday night

Postby tristatecoog » Thu Mar 01, 2007 11:48 pm

I'm bringing a work mate who recently moved to the Plano area from out of state. He came with me to the UH/SMU game and was rather disappointed in the crowd. I've told him to expect about 3-4K for Memphis. Hopefully that will be an easy bar to cross.

What do you think? Will the students come out for that one? Since it's an 8:30 tip, I assume it's on TV somewhere. It will be interesting to see how much pride the Ponies have and how well they play with UM in the first half. I suspect the second half will be rough as UM pulls away due to depth.

Not sure I would pass on that deal.

I wouldn't. I doubt there will be many if any students there. I have heard zero about this game on campus all week. I actually ventured out of the law school into the main part of campus and saw zilch promoting the game. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the fact that the game is on TV will bring out the greeks in hopes that they can get their letters on TV, I just wouldn't get your hopes up.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

This game is getting about as much promotion as the others, very little. But I will be there but expect a blowout.

Memphis doesn't shoot FTs well, so there's an opportunity, but without much depth that's not much of an option.

There's not a lot of reason to promote this game in a big way. They have nothing to play for except pride (11th seed is locked up) and have a depleted roster. The time to promote is when you have some momentum. The DMN ads to "Take Back Moody" were an attempt, but a ticket promotion would probably have helped even more. This is the marquee game of the year but unfortunately it comes at the end of a tough season.

I hope Devon has a good game.

I will be there too. I am not a big college hoops fan (only really watch during March Madness), but since its senior night, and I am a senior, I will go one last time as a student at least. Sucks I couldn't go as much during the season with all the dang homework I get.
