The ESPN - BE basketball/football contract pays each school about $2 Million a year. Add in BCS $$$ to the pot and you go to about $12 for the football only schools. The CBS/ESPN Big X Contract plus BCS bowls pays each school about $20 Million. The ESPN, Jefferson Pilot, ABC, BCS contract with the ACC is about $20 Million per school. Our share of revenues from TV and bowls and NCAA championships is about $1 Million. (BTW we should all be rooting for Memphis to go far in the NCAA's. A run by Memphis to the final four would mean about $1 Million per school in CUSA). So, when you say we can afford it, you mean that someone is donating sufficient funds for us to afford it. With our pitiful attendance and meagre broadcast revenues, our sports program is not bringing in the bucks necessary to pay the bills. Sufficient tutors are an absolute must. Laptop computers for each player should be standard issue (and probably covered by the tuition and fees allowance under NCAA rules). Blackboard access to tests should given to the tutors to administer tests to players on the road. Those are not big buck items. Of course that would mean that the professors would have to adapt from mimeograph tests to one on line, but given that these tests are probably prepared by computer (from a test bank), it should not be a big deal for them. Private charters can be pricey for 15 people to travel. Perhaps a system can be made to open up basketball charters to the Mustang Club members for travel at regular airline prices to help defray the costs of the charter.

Got to go, Phil Bennet is in Memphis to accept the college football associations academic acheivement award...GO PONIES!!

Here's a tip ftt. Read once to get the general idea and twice for comprehension - maybe for you, sloooowwwwwlllllly read once for the general idea, twice reeeeaaaaalllllly sllloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwly for the general idea, and third time for comprehension......Maybe by then you'll notice I didn't say anyone was flunking out or on suspension. Well, I'm probably giving you too much credit. Read it a fourth time. Practice makes perfect............
