Kwiatkowski Commits!

Postby Ponymon » Tue Mar 13, 2007 4:18 pm

Rival's article today confirms the 7 footer's commitment. Here is just a small portion of the article. Go to Rivals for the rest:

"He felt comfortable with the situation there and really felt comfortable with the people and Dallas," Parker said. "When I picked him up from the airport…he was just ecstatic."

The Mustangs landed one of the top true center prospects left in the class of 2007. The Polish native is a work in progress and Parker said Doherty's program provided an opportunity to cultivate Kwiatkowski's talent over time.

"They are a program that are going to be a little bit more patient with him," Parker said. "Probably a little more patient than I was. But he's a tremendous kid and will do well there."

The connection between Doherty and Kwiatkowski played a big part in the decision.

Things ought to be interesting next season with two 7 footers on the floor! I know, I know...a work in progress, but Coach Doh can deal with that.

The connection between Doherty and __________ played a big part in the decision. I don't think this is the last time we will be hearing that.

I was very excited before this nice commit. It's going to be fun to watch these kids grow up.

cstv gives him a "super prospect" ranking, for whatever that's worth. Also says he's up to 7-1, 255 now.

This is a good step forward.

Coach D. has only completed one season on the Hilltop so the SMU community will continue to give him the patience he needs as our men's basketball program is built into a winner.

Kwiatkowski will probably need two years of teaching and development and patience before he becomes (assuming he becomes) a consistent force on the court.

Two seasons from now is when the Mustangs will likely really turn some heads in CUSA and the NCAA.

Go Mustangs!

!

Just curious. Have you seen him play or are you just basing this on the reviews that have been posted? I would love to see some video of him in action if you know where some is available.

Hopefully, he and Bamba can hook up with Coach Vic and get some fat and muscle on those frames. If one of those two could turn into a Koncak, we'd go places.

This kid may already be bigger than Koncak. He may be an inch taller and isn't he at about 250 right now? I believe that was Jon's playing weight.

Just looked again and Rivals has him at 230 (but Scout has him at 260). So maybe he is 20 pounds away from Jon right now weight-wise.

Cheesesteak, do you think he should be redshirted?

He probably should be redshirted (like Fornash should have) but with our youth and lack of depth I doubt he will be. If we had that luxury I'm sure we would take it. Doh knows what he is doing so I trust him to do what's right for now and the long term. When is the last time I said that about an SMU coach? BTW I still love Jimmy and think he got a very raw deal but I have moved on.

Wow, have not thought about Forinash in a looong time...which is a good thing. That guy had all the physical tools...7 footer, good body mass and size.....but didn't have the athletic ability or toughness to play center....nice kid though.

Welcome to the hill top TK!

Doherty has been quite a miracle worker pulling such a quality class together in a short period of time..really am not expecting too much next year but am looking forward to the class he will get next year after a full season under his belt and the improvements to Moody and the practice facility.
