"Boulevard" for BBall?I know we discussed this at some point before, but are there plans for any pre-basketball tailgating? Be kind of cool to set something up maybe on the intramural fields across from Moody. Or maybe the area right next to the new volleyball courts. Early season of course. Don't want to be doing this in January.
Makes it tough since almost all the games happen at night, in the winter, and half are on weeknights when most people, like myself, barely have time to make tipoff.
Maybe could do it selectively, like on certain Saturday games, but still weather is liable to be a factor to anything planned in advance. If we picked a couple of Saturday's though to tailgate for BB, I would be there! Womack + Wishbone = Heisman

First of all, let me ask what idiot posted this on the recruiting board? Oh wait, that was me.
I don't know about snowballs and water balloons, mrydel. ![]() Yes, I like the idea of a couple of Saturday afternoon tailgates. Even in the dead of winter. I mean, if Packers fans can do it, why can't we? Would we need some official sanction to do this, especially on the intramural fields or just outside Moody? I'd like to have more than Welch's grape juice and would need fire for the brats.
A few years ago BUS and I did some basketball tailgates. They were on days when the men and women had a doubleheader, Ladies in the early afternoon, then men at night, and we had our tailgate in between the two games. bagice has already pointed out the 2 biggest drawbacks to basketball gating, midweek games are hard just to make tipoff, and Saturday games are at night during a pretty cold time of year. On top of that, there really isnt a good parking spot near the gym. The small lot in front of Dedman that we used to use for our tailgates is now a sand volleyball pit. Its a fun idea, and we had a good time with ours, but the logistics are very difficult to work out.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
Hey JE.
As an example, had we planned this for the Saturday 7pm tipoff against UTEP on 1/13 this year, we would have had about an hour of darkness before tipoff. (The sun set at 5:42 that day and it probably got dark around 6). So you start your tailgating at about 4pm and go until about 5:45 or so. At which point you fold up your card tables, put out the fire on the grill, pack the leftovers up, refill your drink and turn on some Coleman lanterns. Or commiserate around the light from someone's tv for an hour. It can be done.
