More dollar bills for Billy at A&M?
"The latest from Rachel Cohen is that A&M's Board of Regents will vote on enhancements to Billy Gillispie's contract. The changes include a raise, an extension and increases in retention bonuses, according to an athletic department source."
There are 1500 people signed into the 2 main Razorback message boards and everyone one has a different set of "facts" with what is happening with Gillispie. The funniest, that appears to be true at this time, is an Aggie logging into the Arkansas board under a "razorback sounding name" very similiar to a long time poster (kinda like the Stallion imposters we have had in the past) and talking about the "done deal" with Arkansas and actually giving terms of the contract.
While it still seems highly possible that Arkansas will get Gillispie, there is a huge power struggle between Broyles and the Aggie faithful to either get or keep Gillispie on the payroll.

I have no real insight to this situation, other than the irony that while mrydel shows that something is amuck, as demonstrated by 1500 people signed onto Arkansas message boards, a similar response to something afoot at SMU would sound something like, "just so you know, there are like 75 people logged on over at pf.com saying..."

According to Fox sports....Broyles has fired his coach and the statement goes ahead to say that Gillespie will be the new coach...only have to work out some details and could be named as early as tomorrow...

I don't think Coach Doh's wife would like College Station...so I'm not too worried about that possibility. Other openings maybe...

Arkansas must have opened up the vault. I mean big time. It must have been an offer that A&M would not match, even though they could. I can't wait to see the figures. Just like I said last week, "a coach is only as loyal as his paycheck." If it is true then , Good luck Billy Clyde.
I'm not worried about A&M. Now that they have established themselves as a basketball school they will have no problem attracting a good coach. They have an outstanding freshman class coming in and have built 2 new practice facilities. Their arena is very new. Will be interesting to see who they get.

I'll believe A&M didn't match any offer when I see it. This could be a defining moment about whether A&M is big time or not.

One of the problems that A&M has that is being discussed is that if they raise Gillispie enough to keep him, they would have to also raise Francione because they do not want the BB Coach to make more than the FB Coach. Several news stations here in LR are reporting Gillispie is a done deal for Arkansas but there is no real solid confirmation yet.
