Anyone been to see a practice since Tuesday?I'd love another report
Oh yeah .... I went to practice Friday. Got there very late, but I did get a couple of items:
* TE Vincent Chase has a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL) and will sit out the rest of spring as a precautionary measure. * Same status for CB Jonathan Lindley, who has a strained LCL (lateral collateral ligament?) * DE Jordan Johnson is expected to be out of his walking cast very soon. Head coach Phil Bennett didn't say that he would play this Saturday, and it seems they would take the cautious approach with him, too. Bennett did say that Johnson was among the 2006 redshirts about whom he was most excited, that he shows great strength and explosiveness and overall promise. * Bennett absolutely raved about freshman Justin Smart, who has moved to DE after being recruited at LB. Bennett said Smart has some learning to do, as he moves to his new position, but that he "is one of those guys who's just a football player. He has a chance to be really good." Bennett said that if SMU ran the 3-4 defense, Smart would be better suited to staying at LB, but in the Ponies' 4-3 defense, he's an ideal DE. * After Friday's practice, several players stuck around for extra work. Zack Sledge and a few other skill position players did their daily throwing-and-catching work, and a few other players ran on the side on their own. But 45 minutes after practice was over, DEs Adrian Dizer and Justin Smart were still working on their own, against the blocking sled and practicing pass rush moves against each other. I left before they did.
If Smart takes to DE like he did LB in high school, he and Muse will be about all they need. The guy was a monster in high school. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992

* Same status for CB Jonathan Lindley, who has a strained LCL (lateral collateral ligament?) .[/quote] Lateral collateral ligament is on the outside of the knee joint (ie on the left side on the left knee, or right side of the right knee) and attaches the femur to the fibula. It stabilizes the knee from flexing outward. The collateral ligaments are on the outside of the joint, the cruciate ligaments (ACL and PCL) cross through the interior of the joint. Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
