The members of the "blind faith" Razorbacks are quick to point out that BG is the only person not to have spoken on the matter yet. The powers that be at A&M all say BG is committed to stay, but BG will not personally comment. Mean while the Razorback faithful are going beserk. It is a wonderful thing to behold.
I think it's quite apparent he is doing so. Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
The Aggies can afford it. Now Franchione will pull a stick up, and they'll bleed a little more. I love it when thieves fall out. Arkansas will now have to focus on somebody else and compete with Kentucky for that someone else. John Thompson III makes $450,000, you know he'll listen to offers to get a bigger paycheck. Then of course there's Howland. But who would trade LA for Fayetteville? So, the Hogs will just be everybody's tool to get a raise and stay where they are. Then the Hogs will have to hire somebody else and pay a high price and tell the world why this guy is the best coach the Hogs will ever have. In the meantime, the clock is ticking for Natonal signing day and those that haven't already signed are on everyone's rolodex getting inquiries. I hope the Hogs find they are left out in the cold on this one. I want Frank Broyles to have to eat a great big juicy do do sandwich.
Re: Poor Porkers
It has actually been mentioned by some. But more realistically they have mentioned Mike Anderson who is now with Missouri and previously UAB after leaving as an Assistant under Nolan at Arkansas. He would probably be a good hire for them but with the Richardson background and with Broyles still there, I do not think it would happen.
Arkansas may find themselves in the same pickle that Alabama football did. They will get a head coach from a mid-major or BCS assistant most likely. I would go the head coach route. Kentucky will get the pick of the litter; most likey Donovan from Florida.
Why would Donovan lead FL, he won a championship there last year, and is back in the final four this year. I seriously doubt that FL will let him get away.

I dispute the "Alabama Pickle" since even though it seemed like a circus, they got exactly who they wanted and will be just fine. Arkansas will get a reasonable name coach. They have a lot to offer. They still may get Gillispie. They will never outbid the Aggies but they may out negotiate. I will go on record now as saying I do not think they will get him but he has yet to say he is not interested out loud.
I think BG is the smartest one involved. A&M has promised to finally start the new BB practice facility Monday morning after delaying for 3 years. Supposedly they are up to $2 million/year and ready to go more. His only response continues to be "As of now I am still the coach at Texas A&M. Now I am off to the final 4." I really have no idea who Arkansas will get but the USC Coach is mentioned a lot (Foley I think). He wanted the job when they hired Heath and may still be interested. Majarus is offering to come and he could be a short term name while they court someone else. If I wanted to be an Arkansas Basketball fan again, I would want Mike Anderson but for the reasons I stated above, I do not think that could fly. But do not yet count out Gillispie. Broyles has wielded a big carrot for many many years and it would not surprise me at all for him to pull this one out.
Now it is "somewhat official" that Gillispie is staying at A&M. A news story says that finally at 10:00 this morning A&M AD gave Broyles permission to talk to BG. Then at noon, before Broyles was ever able to contact BG, the AD called back and said BG had asked the AD to tell Broyles that he was not interested in the job. Still no direct contqact or word from BG but Arkansas has said they are now pursuing other coaches.
Kentucky would be a possibility because it's one of the few jobs left with mystique due to it's history and tradition. Another is that he would be heading to a school that is a Basketball first school. As good as Florida is in Basketball, Football will remain King at that school, especially after winning the National Championship this year.
Yeah, but have there been any instances where he has gotten short shrift because it is a football first school? If I'm Donovan, I see no benefit in going to Kentucky. If he stays at FL and continues to have good teams he will be just as revered and he won't have fans with expectations that are unrealistic. Plus, FL is big enough and has enough money that they are going to be able to pay to keep him there. If FL's AD has any brains at all he is going to recognize what he has and do whatever he can to keep him there.
