Speaking of Kentucky, it now seems that Gillispie has deferred on finalizing his A&M contract so he can hear from Kentucky. The Aggies may end up paying him $4,000,000/year before it is all over.

No way.

I long ago established my price for things such as this at $10,000,000.00.

I might have to factor in inflation if it was a College Station offer.

If Donovan turns down Kentucky BCG will take it. As an ex-assistant at Kentucky I doubt Donovan will let it pass by. Arkansas will end up with some unknown.

Arkansas is a good enough program to warrant a name coach. One of the problems they have now is that even though Broyles will never leave (there are plans to stuff him and put him in a trophy case somewhere), he has resigned as AD effective 12/31/2007. Coaches are hesitant when they do not know who their new boss will be. That is why I would think Majerus has a good chance. He could sign up with a 2 or 3 year deal and he will probably be ready to quit or he will die before the end of the contract. Then the new AD could make the hire.

I will admit that they are having some trouble now that Gillispie has passed, but I still think they will get someone with some name value. Lon Kruger has popped up as a candidate.

There's talk in many circles that Donovan wants to be the next coach of the Miami Heat, and that the Heat wants him.

The Heat owner is worth something like four times what Mark Cuban is worth. Can you imagine the contract Donovan will get if he wins another title at UF?

John Feinstein opined in the Washington Post this morning that the bidding for Donovan would reach into the $ 4 Million/year range. That's a lot of scratch. If you have the Heat, Kentucky and UF all bidding, it could get crazy. He also opined that a Florida Assistant was heading to South Florida. He said that Arkansas may be looking at Hamilton the Florida State Coach. One interesting aside, many coaches commented that Tubby Smith looked like the happiest man in the world to be away from Kentucky. Coaches do notice that sort of thing. Other rumors. Vanderbilt coach to Michigan.

Latest rumor from Fayettville is that Broyles has offered Calipari.

His extension is only verbal "in principle". Nobody wants to sign anything until Kentucky is decided.
