I like both night and day home games, but I like a mix of both over a season.

Night games in a practical sense add more time to spend on the Blvd
and allow one to get errands done Sat morning while alot of different stores are open.

Again, I like both but prefer at least two or three night home games
per season.

With that said, can't wait till the season starts!

Go Mustangs!

Except for early September (some hot days) I like afternoon games.

Good job SMU.

I like the first couple of games at night too, but we can't pass up the national tv deals. I can't wait for the 'Vard!

Nite games in September-day games in October and November. Plus day games should be played against CUSA West opponents-otherwise what's the point of playing in a conference where you can drive to the games. Should make a slight attendance difference.

3 o clock kickoffs on Labor Day!? One day a player will drop dead out there(like the 49er and Viking players) and then they will say "maybe we ought to start doing something about this". Maybe an elderly fan will kick it this time.

They are all in the air conditioned box. This could only happen if someone's bar bill got too high.

Average high for Labor Day is usually upper 80s to lower 90s.

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/fwd/CLIMO/dfw/n ... 09nrm.html (says 91 high, 71 low)

9-02-2000's 109 degree kickoff was unusual (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/fwd/CLIMO/dfw/lcd/dfwsep00.html)

(Anyone notice how we've cooled off since 2000 due to this Global Warming? Last year's high was 94 degrees on Sept 2, and 82 on the 3rd, 76 on the 4th)

A questionable marketing decision?

The students highly prefer night to day games. Day games cut down on Boulevard time, requires them to wake up too early, and unless the great majority of the eastside seats are filled, the glare off the metal is miserable. And last but not least, a number of the coeds spiff up for the games and they don't want to sweet thru the day and then have to re-shampoo, set and dry the hair for the evenings festivities...which never start before 10:00 pm anyway. These points coming from 4 sophmores that just left my house.

Once we begin to sell out games, and once we have >50% of the students at all games and >70% at major games (pick your own percentages), then the supply/demand effect might come into play and student attendance could be a non-issue. Until then, it would make sense to me to make every attempt to involve the students and react to their preferences.

You think that having night games will somehow draw more student attendance than the afternoon?

At a school like SMU, the students would rather go to a bus party than see the 2nd half of a tied football game and proceed to say adios. On top of that, we don't have great attendance...so I am failing to see how anyone can possible try to justify a statement like that when there is no possibly way that there is a visible difference.

fact is if the temperature drops into the low 50s on an October or November Nite 75% of the students will stay home. So those predictions are based on some rather unreliable assumptions.

If I am not mistaken, a few years ago most of the games were scheduled at night and the students said they did not want that because it infringed on their party time. Seems like the students would just be happier if the games went straight to DVD.
