I'm sorry, I had no idea that asking a simple question about an entire university's generational [deleted] and moaning about another school was considered obsession. I had no idea that wondering what the answer was, is considered obsession. Your right, maybe I am just obsessed with the Sun Belt bottom feeders from Denton. I must fear the mean green. I must be a complete snob because I hate North Texas.

Nice reasoning thinking I'm a snob because I believe I'm better than North Texas or it's students. I think Denton, and its school is a god-awful ugly place. I had a simple question, it was answered, and you seem to exemplify that answer. Not quite obsession.

For the record, I never assumed you were from Highland Park. My reference to the Park Cities was due to SMU's location. SMU and the your self admitted snobbish fan base turns off the rest of DFW. So people see what the want to see huh, and you say they should feel welcome when you display such disdain and elitist attitudes? Some of the Phonies fans on the hilltop embrace that elitist attitude, snobbish behavior, and SMU stereotype. I've seen it demonstrated on this board, I’ve seen it on the 'Vard, I’ve seen it in the stadium...and I’m not the first to say it here. SMU'ers have posted the same before. You just despise North Texas because they are sub-par ...you are just saying you hate them because you are better than they are. SMU is a great institution. If only some of its fans were as classy as the school aspires to be. You are not a snob, and Brutus is an honorable man.

If UNT is so sub-par why do you hate them? Why do you even feel anything? The opposite of fear is indifference. You self admittedly despise and hate North Texas, that certainly isn’t indifference. You must really fear them. And if they are so sub-par athletically how do you describe 24-6????

Anyway this joust has been fun... It won't be here by morning because the mods will delete any negative posts.

If your point is that SMU alienates the DFW metroplex with its "elitist" attitude, thus causing our stadium to rarely fill to capacity, what is your excuse for your's? I believe when you played us last year was the highest attendance in your stadium's history and it still wasn't full.

You are going to find snobby people everywhere. People that are so full of themselves that it is disgusting. It unfair to all of the alumni and students to look at our campus's location, the price of tuition, the kind of cars that are around campus, how people look, or even worse how a handful of people act, to determine the personalities of all of those affiliated.

Regardless, quit force-feeding yourself stereotypes about our so-called "elitism", twisting the facts and quotes, and then using that to pump your low self-esteem. It only makes you a whiny, self-diluting crybaby trying to steal attention away from other schools. When you can't do that successfully, you become envious and disdainful.

You're wrong about the attendance at last years UNT/SMU being the highest attendance at Fouts. The attendance was over 25,000, but well under the top stadium attendance of 29,437. Regarding attendance. One of UNT's worst teams in several years with 3 wins actually had a higher season attendance average than the 6-6 Pony team. UNT 15,650 SMU 15,428. UNT's attendance will increase dramatically this season with the new coach and offense.

Perhaps NTSU's attendance will increase, but will its self esteem? Or will you continue to think you cannot make it into a better conference on your own merits?

Thank you for that useless bit of trivia. Also, thank you for proving my point (which regardless of what you may have thought) had absolutely nothing to do with the actually attendance. I was proving that the DFW metroplex does not alienate SMU because they believe us to be snobby, caviar eating, people using, self idolizers. You have 33,500 students with an obvious larger alumni base from which to draw. We have 11,000 students (half of which are grad students) with a small alumni base from which to draw. UNT approaches the size of A&M (44,910) and exceeds the size of Texas Tech (24,717) and averages about the same as SMU (10,941). I see NO reason for you to flaunt your attendance. I'm not proud of our attendance, but after 20 years of sub-par (an exaggeration) on-the-field performance, I'm glad that anyone is even still interested in SMU athletics.

Now that I've ranted. Please read what I post before attempting to refute it.

Its not the reading...its the reading comprehension that is often a problem for the little eglets.

To be more irrelevant then us at sports is the only tough thing that NTSU has ever achieved...Dodge cannot turn that low rent cess-pool around, but he can do well enough to jump to the next level after that....maybe OC at UT or something.

It'll be interesting to see how many fans UNT brings to the game at Ford this fall. If they bring enough fans to compare with UTEP, Baylor or TCU, or even Houston's last game, then it is certainly a win/win proposition. If it's only 1,000 fans (sort of like Rice at UH), then it's a lot of "sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Personally, I hope UNT brings 5K or more fans. That will make for an interesting and fun rivalry game. However, SMU didn't exactly pack Fouts last fall but had a "respectable" showing.
