I guess I have more faith in Doh than you do. I think he is going to take the program to the next level and that means he will be taking care of a lot of the little things off the court as well as on the court. Seeing that the players get the support they need to be successful in the classroom as well as on the court. Time will tell.

You need to look at the players Doh recruited to UNC and Florida Int, then throw in Bennie Rhodes, and the picture is complete. He puts his neck on the line w/some very some kids that just aren't addicted to the books. We'll have attrition, compete at a higher level, and be an actual program. Some kids will rise to the academic challenge, others will be mad they have to study at all. Welcome to the next level
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Pony,

I've known Matt for a long time and I can tell you that two things are certain with your coach.

1. He will not sign anyone that he feels will not be able to do the school work.

2. He will do everything, in his power, to support, cajole, or force any player to perform in the classroom.

What you have here at SMU is one heckuva a recruiter, and in my opinion, an even better coach. He has always known what it takes during the game and how to focus his players on what is important with respect to basketball and more importantly everything else.

He has learned how to do all the things outside of his team and basketball much better, and he has put himself in a position where he has the necessary support, encouragement, and resources to lead your program to a level of unmatched success.
