FYI - For those of you that might be interested in playing next time - the contest has two separate divisions. According to Barron's, "It is open to students doing full- or part-time studies aqt a 2 or 4 year college, university or graduate or professional school, on campus or online. The second disvision is for teachers - a term that embraces professors, instructors, adjunct professors, or anyone else who provides instruction at the junior-college and above level. This year there were nearly 2,000 participants - 1,847 students and 131 professors versus 1,600 previously. While contestants create portfolios using theoretical cash, the prizes are real: $1,500 to the winners in each category: $1,000 to the swecond place finishers; aqnd $500 for third. Each contestant starts off with a hypothetical $100,00 and margin is allowed so a portfolio of up to $200,00 can be established at the beginning."
He is a part-time professor of energy law, who "managed the unique feat of placing 2nd for the second year in a row. His long-standing interest in the stock market dates back to when he was 10 and every weekend his dad would have him bike to the newsstand to fetch a carton of cigarettes and a Barron's. Using what he knows best, Dancy says energy stock picks like Bolt Technology, an oil-services stock, helped drive his protfolio to a 33% return."
