Dang, I missed the one year anniversary of Copeland telling us that Tubbs was fired for violations more serious than the burgers and Cheer we read about in the paper. I wonder if we'll know what those violations were by the second anniversary.

At this point, I don't want to know. I liked Tubbs and I wish him well, but my interest is in the future of our basketball team, and it's in great hands with Coach Doherty.

You don't want to know whether SMU lied to us about the reasons for firing their coach? Boy, I sure do.

They told us there was more to it than cheeseburgers and detergent. I trust that's true. I'm glad they hired a man who appears to be a damn good coach to right the ship.

how any one that has been a fan of this university since the 1980s can blindly trust this or any university to fully disclose NCAA violations is beyond me. Full disclosure is the way to go. Its not the end of the world to fully disclose your violations, if any. This would already be a matter of public record if this were a state school. Based upon SMU's past transgressions I think SMU should at least meet the the standards of transparency as required under Texas Open Records Act requirements. Get the violations out-and move on down the road.

When SMU fired Tubbs, Copeland said in a statement, "the few incidents described in recent media reports are not the sum of the alleged violations in the program. Those incidents would not, in themselves, warrant significant action on the part of the University."

OMG.. You did not just say the The Texas Open Records Act!
I'm thinking the Stamp Act or Tea Act might have a little more teeth.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
