i wanna see some big-time opponents in moody next year. i don't care if we have the firepower to keep up, i just wanna see some legitimate non-conf teams in there. i wish every game was like the memphis game with the atmosphere and such, that's my dream i guess

I am sure these kids have good defensive skills already, but like you said, I think we saw a noticable improvement in defense this year with last years kids. That makes me believe there is still some defense to be learned.

Not sure where it was noticable; other teams FG % was slightly higher this past season compared to last season, we had about 30 less steals, rebounding differential was about the same......I was at every home game and our defense didn't look any better nor any worse than last year

It sounds to me like Doh is saying he likes and offense that works for a good shot and has many options of shooters to make the shot vs. a run and gun or a few super slashers that create their own shots off the dribble. I do not think he is down-playing defense. 8)

I guess I should have said I thought the increased effort was noticeable. I don't recall much effort being made on the defensive end in years past. But you are right in the sense that the results are evident in the record.

Actually our defense improved only marginally. We had a pretty low points per game against average the year before this one. I haven't run the final numbers but there was about 1 ppg difference before the conference tournament.

With all due respect, do we remember what we lost before last season and what we had to start this season? The early success fooled us a bit but Doh did an amazing job with what he had. No disrespect to Tubbs emphasis on Defense intended however.
