I have always thought Bennett could recruit. His staff? Maybe/maybe not. To a degree, I think Bennett and staff do a pretty good job of evaluating talent and targeting players. My opinion on this hasn't changed in five years.
Anybody that has talked to Bennett knows he is a good salesman. And Stallion, that is where I think you conclusion is wrong. Other than games, you don't go to anything football related; I have no idea if you have ever talked to the man for any period of time. If you had, I have to believe you would agree he is a good salesman.
But being a good salesman means nothing unless you got something to sell. The best car salesman in the world isn't going to sell me a used Gremlin. And Bennett has a hard time selling Phil Bennett as head coach of the SMU Football Program. Phil Bennett as head coach is defined by zero winning seasons in six years and 0-12 and a half-million odd decisions and organizational question marks. Phil Bennett as recruiter had more success when Phil Bennett as head coach was an unknown commodity.

Well, I guess we'll all find out after the Thanksgiving weekend if the season was what we hoped it would be or just another disappointment.
But I'm sure our friends like Stallion would love nothing more than to hang on their argument of this program being unsuccessful or lacking direction or needing to be in the middle of some 12-step road to recovery program.
Whenever that day comes, they will have nothing to complain about. Until then, they get off on failure. What a wonderful way to go through life.

My father used to work for AMC. I think we actually had a Gremlin once as a company car. Talk about perks that don't exist anymore in the business world.

We have a special deal worked out. I pay for 2 seats for all occasions and Jtstang helps me out by using one of them.

You get what you pay for. Better watch your liquor cabinet.

I could buy him his own neighborhood bar and he would still be less expensive.
Where I run into trouble is when I bring my wife and send her to the mall while Jtstang used her seat.
