Huh? Nash left as a free agent not via trade. When he initially came to Dallas, it was for a 1st round pick that, unfortunately, ended up being Shawn Marion. Dirk for Haywood?...only if Cuban is using Marion Barry's crackpipe.

Trade Dirk? Yeah right.
Moses Malone on the next MVP, Dirk Nowitski: "When you get double- and triple-teamed in the playoffs, it's hard to get off a shot. It's tough when you got guys swarming you all the time. You can't do anything. You can't put the blame on one guy. It's not a one-man team. It's a unit. You win with 12 guys. He did a great job with the Mavs. There's no shame there."

Then he's an outstanding player and not a superstar. The NBA is a "superstar driven" league where you need your "superstar" to take over critical games.
Do you think Jordan was never double or triple teamed? How about Kobe or Lebron?
The bottom line is that the mavs are a soft, jump shooting team and will remain that way with the current core group. And they should have won the whole damn thing last year, because they are not sniffing an NBA finals again with these players...especially since Neliie gave the rest of the league a "how-to" guide on how to mess with Dirk.

Last thought on the subject...remember Dwayne Wade last year in the finals? Do you think the mavs didnt send everyone and their dog against him...but what difference did it make? He willed his team to victory...Dirk's never shown that type of ability and he won't because thats not the type of player he is or will ever be. Its not like the guy's just gotten in the league...players dont keep getting better as they get older until they retire. I think we've seen Dirk's peak as a player.

I said I'd throw in a couple of Euro players that the Wizards haven't signed yet? Hey, they might be better than Dirk in a couple of years, who knows?

If there is, they'd already be here by now. The only reason they wouldn't be is if their contract with their Euro team is so unreasonable that they can't get out of it.

Horry may have been suspended for two games, but at least the Suns will be two big players short for one game. I think we can survive a couple of games without Horry. The Suns are going to have a hard time without Stoudemire and Diaw.

David Stern and Stu Jackson just handed the Spurs the series.

Certainly did. It's a shame, too, because that rule was put into place to prevent teams from going after an opponent's best player. Horry took out Nash, and the Spurs likely will win the series because of it .... and that's after the league looked the other way when Tim Duncan broke the same "leaving the vicinity of the bench" rule in the same game. Pretty weak.

Not so sure of that. The Spurs had a rough time tonight playing against the smaller lineup. I really don't know how they pulled it out, but they just barely did.

yah this ruined the series... even though the suns played tough last night... i think stern is an idiot 99% of the time, and if he goes by the "letter of the law" then he should have suspended duncan. the whole time he is sitting there justifying the suspension by saying that he doesnt look at intent, but in duncans case he did?! i personally think this could have been avoided had stern ateast fined (if not suspended) bowen for his crotch shot to nash...

It's funny. People talk about how the Spurs whine and complain, but there's been so much whining coming from the Suns and their fans this entire series.
"It's not fair!"
"Bowen should be suspended."
"Duncan should be suspended."
Give it a rest...especially all of you Dallas fans that are upset because your team is not in it anymore.

Should the Suns players have been suspended for leaving the bench? Yes, that is the rule and they knew it.
However, it should never have gotten that far. Bowen should have been suspended for his cheap shot to the groin. If the Suns players had any confidence in the league office that they would actually handle the situation, they wouldn't have left the bench in the first place. The league has a history of allowing dirty play when it builds hype and boosts their ratings. That is one of many reasons I can't watch the NBA for a whole season.
