As the brother of an alcoholic that is now dead due to his abuse, I can assure you no matter how hard a friend or relative tries, fault for death by abuse of drugs lies solely with the user.

As a parent, Mrydel is right. Schools won't or can't communicate with parents and the student can avoid contact as well
