I don't know what the university presidents said, nor do I know if their opinions were even sought. But if there was a president (or more than one) who did object, there's no way they could have said anything without looking really bad in the court of public opinion. They had to say "give the poor guys a second chance" .... whether they believe it or not.

Even if the presidents do feel that way, I bet their schools' lacrosse coaches don't.

How many of you would have been whining if, after Katrina, Tulane had canceled its football season and the NCAA gave it back to them? This is along the same lines, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I'm not going to say none of us ever drank underage or behanved inappropriately, but the fact is that if the party didn't happen, there is no dancer making accusations. A stripper party is not an unavoidable natural disaster that blasted an entire region of the country .... and how many Tulane guys got that extra year?

You are missing the point. Tulane DID NOT cancel its season, so there was no reason to get an extra year.

Hey, we all sometimes get bitten by the stereotype bug. We just need to check it before we hit the submit button. Does this post make me look like a redneck? If so, do I really want to post it? Having just spent the morning in landlord tenant court for the District of Columbia, I could have developed certain racial stereotypes this morning just people watching for three very long hours and then talked about those stereotypes. But that would be wrong because I know that the things I saw this morning were but a piece of the pie that makes the DC Community. In any community there will be people who don't pay their rent, lawyers who handle L&T cases by the boatload, judges who are in a bad mood because they have to deal with these cases all day long. And you just can't expand that out.
